This is a really interesting question, not so much because of the straight-off answers that you'll probably get, but the question of is the notion of finding oneself a legitimate idea.

Consider the conclusion - it's either a product of one's ego or it's an idea that's suggested by others. Neither are sufficient. The ego is unrealistic in the sense that it is its own center of he universe (everything relates back to me, me, me). Receiving opinion from others puts limitations on the experience of being alive. Also, how can one truly know oneself when much of your thought process and self-identity can be manipulated contextually? And what about the role of language and culture on your evaluation of yourself? Isn't that also limiting and distorted by imposing the inherited structure of meaning from society?

You should always be finding yourself. But keep in mind that you can never truly find yourself. Just know that you must always keep looking.

Do not believe this 'finding yourself' bologna. It is all a way to make you see yourself first and forget the one who can help you and love you. Yes, this would be God. The God of the Universe.

Plus, why does anyone want to 'find themselves'? Have you lost yourself and how do you know you you are missing?

This whole 'finding yourself' is a way the psychology association used to get you away from trusting in the Lord. From, relying on the God who created you. Jesus is the only Way, only Truth, and only Life. Do you really need to 'find yourself' once you have Jesus in your life and in your heart?

Yes, the 1980's was a strange decade. A decade all about YOU, YOU, YOU...

Hope this helps you...

I don't know. The older I get, the more of myself I loose. So, I guess I'm constantly trying to find myself. Eventually I will be going in circles in an attempt to recognize anything of my former self. I don't even look like me anymore. "Who is that stranger in the mirror?" I often wonder. (Groans in defeat.) I knew once, who I was. That was when someone waited upon me hand and foot, and I could do nothing but demand it be so when it was not done. Now I am the one at the beck and call of not one but many, and I foresee this trend in undiminished proportions stretching out into my future.

Lots of introspection and putting yourself in a variety of positions in life to see how you will react at any given time. Life experience helps one "find himself."

In Buddhism, you would first need to clarify your mind.

Every morning contemplate and try to implement these ideas. This will help train your mind to understand its true nature.

Remove anger from your life
Cultivate love
Stabilize your mind
Conceal your accomplishments
Praise others accomplishments
Reveal your own shortcomings
Do not reveal others shortcomings (unless with compassion)
Recognize all people as spiritual teachers
Take no pleasure in negative actions
Remove procrastination and laziness from your life
Speak peacefully and truthfully
Smile
Give freely
Abandon envy

This is the true nature of your subtle mind, so making this effort will align your regular mind with the true nature of your subtle mind.

it is rather easy to find your own self, first you must take a deep breath and close your eyes,m try your very best to empty your mind. Only allow your mind to wander in the dark, you will only find the answer if you could really empty your mind. Try it.
The other option is knowing your creator, once you recognise the creator you will automatically find your true self.

wow, vague...
Start out by doing some "soul searching": what do you love, what do you hate, what are you afraid of, etc...
What makes you tick????
Come to terms with who you are and what you believe in. Be true to yourself and your own true feelings and beliefs, try to forget any ideas of who you should be and how you should act imposed on you by others and get down to the core of who you really are.
