First, her real name was Lisa. She was DaVinci’s lover for many years. The painting was inspired by them both having the greatest sex of their lives the night before. And the original title of the painting was ‘Moaning Lisa.’
The Catholic Church frowned upon the title of the painting and pressured Leonardo to change it to a less suggestive title.
Or maybe not. But isn’t my theory as good as anyone else’s?

It's a joke, my guys. A pun, a play on words.
And Candy Freak, if you read what I wrote carefully you'll notice I said they had sx the night before. Most people put on clothes the next morning.

Yes and the Last Supper was originally entitled "At Benihana's". the story was that the last thing they said before the painting was painted was "If you want in the picture get on this side of the table."

OK, that's a possibility, now here's my theory. The models name was Lisa Gherardini. She married Francesco Del Giocondo in 1495, at the age of 24. It was reported that Leonardo's father commissioned the girl for the portrait, as he was a friend of her husband. Lisa and Francesco had five children during their marriage. It is said, the painting was done around 1503, commemorating the birth of their second son. Lisa out lived her husband and lived well into her sixties, however, no record of her death has ever been located.............. Or maybe not.................lol................

Could be.
There is also another theory that said that Mona Lisa is Leonardo da Vinci as a woman.
Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Well, interesting theory. But do you ever think that the mona lisa was Leo's wife who died with a smiling face because she was never scared of death? just a theory as well. If they had sex and he painted her, why is she wearing clothes?

Huh, and I've heard the same story, Dr. W., but I always believed that the original title was "Morning, Lisa!"

I always thought he had an affair with her that wouldn't have been sanctioned in the Catholic Church. He was an official painter for the church and did many murals for them. I think he would have risked his position and maybe was expected not to marry, being so pious. With so many Catholic expectations, the piety drove him to have an affair.

u know u may be right.
i read somewhere that mona lisa was actually a man!! and da vinci wanted to mask the fact that he was attracted towards a man, so he gave it the feminine touch.

She remains a mystery. However, recent testing has shown she was first painted wearing a bonnet. It is suspected she was pregnant. Why this suspicion, I don't know.
