It was reported that Leonardo's father commissioned the girl for the portrait, as he was a friend of her husband. Lisa and Francesco had five children during their marriage. It is said, the painting was done around 1503, commemorating the birth of their second son. Lisa out lived her husband and lived well into her sixties, however, no record of her death has ever been located.............. Or maybe not.................lol................

I always thought he had an affair with her that wouldn't have been sanctioned in the Catholic Church. He was an official painter for the church and did many murals for them. I think he would have risked his position and maybe was expected not to marry, being so pious. With so many Catholic expectations, the piety drove him to have an affair.

i read somewhere that mona lisa was actually a man!! and da vinci wanted to mask the fact that he was attracted towards a man, so he gave it the feminine touch.
