By verifiable I mean asking God to do something you could observe or see the results of and not involving your mind (internal thoughts or voices).

I agree with truthseeker. God is not to be tested. If you believe fully then you will receive it. If you have to test Him, you don't trust Him totally.
Is this verifiable enough for you. I was really strapped for cash and I went to Target. I saw something that I really needed for work that costed $20. I had the money, but I really couldn't afford to spend it. I said, "Lord, I really need this, please help me make it to next week if I get this. Needless to say I bought it and when I got out to my car there was a $20 bill by my back tire. Write it off as a coincidence if you like, but I know He answers prayers because I often have things like that happen to me.

Hmm? Something verifiable?... Something you could observe or see the results of?... Hmm? Sounds like I'd be asking for something "material". Or maybe some sort of "miracle". No, Bob, I don't think I would. Things like that would make faith too easy. I have found that the "verifiable" things that I truly need, come without me ever having to ask.

I've had some experience of that type and I know some people who had this experience too...It depends on how near to God you are at the time of praying..for me I had a very clear message from God..I'm a Muslim by the way..once I was intending to do some sinful thing once I finish my day in college..I stopped a taxi and the driver was playing a Qur'an tape..once I got inside the first verse I heard was warning me from the exact sin I was intending to do and telling me about its consequences..I think there is no doubt in this message to be from God.

When you go to a doctor, you ask to be cured, you don't say " Give me this medicine". Even if you say the doctor will give you what you need, not what you want. When you go to a teacher, you don't say " teach me this lesson". Even if you say the teacher will look at you and teach what you need, not what you want. Similarly, when you ask God to do something, you will always get an answer but it does not mean you always get what you want.

Secondly, you can not test God with your questions. God will test you with what you need to do. You can not achieve anything with that arrogance.

Only if I ask for something that will happen anyhow. Like the sun to rise or my shower to be warm.

I think I qualify to answer this as I am pretty loose, maybe not the most loose, but one of them. (thi est)

Yes, as long as it is His will for me.
