time(a seemingly total "stranger"), do you find it rude that the person did not identify him/herself?

Eg. Instead of "Hi I am blah-blah....from xxxx. Are you xxxx??" or "I am Walter - we last met at xxxx. Are you xxx?", do you find it rude that someone says "Are you xxxxx?" without identifying him/herself first.

What's your input? :)

maybe some pple are just very informal when it comes to sms, well if you are the person they are trying to contact, maybe you ask for his or her name and how they got your number, if from a mutual friend, chekc with that friend first. or you could just ignore them.

Its not an issue, depends on the circumstances the sender was in. If you wish to pursue the conversation, you could respond back and politely ask the sender to identify him/herself. Not just in this case, in any mode of communication even if the person you are talking to is not so polite, you could be calm and be polite and give that person a second chance.

Unless you're too free & want to waste a few cents, if not why border to reply to that sort of msg.

Stop giving your number away to strangers online when you chat. Otherwise just text them back and ask who they are.

Maybe that anonymous happened to have ur number or he/she got it fr someone as he/she wanted to give u a surprise or get to know u.

He/she did not tell his/her name, maybe he/she wants to know whether u r keen to find out his/her identity by asking him/her.

Instead of replying him/her ur name, why not u ask for his/hers?

If he/she still did not tell u his/her name, do not talk to him/her until he/she decided to disclose his/her name.
