No its not inhumane to neuter/spay cats, it can be very beneficial to the owner and the cat itself.

With neutering it lowers aggression and your cat isn't as territorial and wont have him spraying in every inch of the house.

neutering and spaying decreases any problems such as blockages in the vas defrons (tubes that carry sperm to the penis) or blockages in the fallopian tubes. decreases the risk of cancers especially ovarian and testicular cancers (because there removed) And any other problems such as pymetra.

Its Just an owners personal choice whether to spay or neuter and the purpose of the cat such as showing or breeding.

If its a pet its a pet neutering and spay is highly recommended as it decreases the health risks, doesn't lead to any unwanted pregnancies and you wont have any roaming cats looking for a mate or female in heat.

No way! It is inhumane NOT to neuter them. The feral cat problem is growing and if people don't neuter their pets, it is only going to get worse. Imagine if your cat then has kittens and they end up abandoned, cold, wet and hungry on the streets? It is no different to a human living on the streets. And then there is the number of cats each year that have to be euthanased because there aren't enough homes for these precious little creatures. I have always had cats, my parents had cats before I was born, and they have always been "Fixed". I moved out and got two kittens of my own and at 12 weeks I had them both spayed (plus they were brother and sister and that is just wrong and another topic! lol!). Please take your cat to the vet, he/she will thank you in years to come and you can feel better in the knowledge that you have done your bit to help these gorgeous animals.

A vet told my friend that neutering a cat at an early age is good for the cat, because it decreases her chance of getting womb-related cancers. Her cat suffered from surgery because the cat was not spayed. I'm not sure about my cat, because she was spayed quite early in her life. She's around 9 years old now, with no obvious developing lumps (unlike my dogs), and she's still jumping around like a kitten!
My spayed dog (She's 16 years old!) is relatively healthier than my unspayed dogs (13 years old) because they have developing breast cancers. So I think both cats and dogs are healthier spayed...and in the long run, they'd suffer even more!

No. It is most inhumane to NOT spay/neuter!
a spayed female won't have to endure endless heat cycles that will be hard on both of you. A neutered male will tend to be less aggressive and be a better inside pet due to less problems with litterbox issues and spraying.
Letting the cat breed for one litter does not improve temperment or increase it's lifespan- if anything it will shorten the cats life.

It's actually the best thing for cats. A male cat will run off if he isn't neuter. A female can have 3 liters a year. They do get lazy after being fixed. But there's so many unwanted cats out there.

Absolutely not! What is inhumane is the way unwanted cats and kittens are dealt with. Many many cats and kittens die every year in shelters because there aren't enough homes for them. Spaying and neutering is a necessity and responsible ownership. So is keeping your cat indoors.

Cats and other mammals do not suffer from lack of sexual expression as humans do. It is actually more humane to neuter a cat or any other pet as it relieves them of the stress from hormones that urge them to seek mates. Mating cats are in danger of injury from cat bites which can abcess and cause death if not treated. Fatal diseases are transmitted through cat bites in the mating process and competition for mates. FIV and feline leukemia eventually result in the cats death. Not being sterilized can also bring on cancers of the reproductive organs.

There are not enough homes for the many unwanted kittens that are born in the US every year. People adopt kittens because they are "cute" and then are not willing to deal with typical cat behavior or care for their medical needs when they are older.

Have you ever seen a female cat in heat? It's cruel not to spay her! She seems absolutely miserable and horny! Not to even go into all the reasons that neutering and spaying is more healthy, i.e. decreasing cat population, cat fights, disease spreading, etc.

Its inhumane to let cats sit in an animal shelter waiting for adoption that isn't going to happen with so many cats all over town. Look in the paper, its over run with free ads for cats that people don't want. What is inhumane is to let cats bred and have way too many and then have to gas them, or whatever they do to kill off so many cats.
