If the police take drugs away from you, what do they do with them? Do they store them as evidence? Do the 'destroy' them somehow? What happens to the paraphanilia after all those drug busts! I'm talking United States, btw.

When drugs are confiscated -----
1. A small amount is sent to a drug crime lad and tested to properly determine what type of drug the person has.

2. The rest of the drug is photographed, weighed, bagged and tagged with a copy of the person's arrest report, the amount confiscated, and then stored in what is called an evidence property room.

3.The drug will remain in the property room as evidence until the person appears before the court.

4.The drug may be used as a training device for the canines(drug task dog), as a training drug for recognizing for new recruits, in the D.A.R.E. school programs to teach awareness of drugs to children, and the remainder of the drug is destroyed.

5.It is according to what the drug is to how the drug is destroyed--the destruction of the drug is according to the method that is safest.

relies upon on the type and volume of drug confiscated, How and the place it become chanced on. And the ethics of the officers who "chanced on" them. Technically, all confiscated materials is meticulously inventoried and logged with a chain of evidence custody. as quickly as no longer needed via the courts --- it quite is "perfect destroyed." Now some is used in stings. some is used for police pastime. some is used for income. there are a number of variables.

I believe that most confiscated drugs (after they have been used as evidence in their respective cases) are destroyed. Some of it are stored and used in drug stings or are used in educational purposes (training, etc.).

They are stored for the trial and all possible appeals are exhausted. After a certain amount of time, the drugs are destroyed usually by incinerator.
