it sounds like you might be suppressing a memory -but be very careful when you try and find out. Go to a reputable psychatrist/psychologist to sort it out - if you want to.

Please be very careful if you explore this question and make sure that you see a very reputable and trusted psychologist or psychiatrist. It is tempting to listen to friends about things like this but really, especially with this issue, it is most essential to speak to a highly trained and well respected professional. Dreams may confuse us when they occur. You may have associated some past or present trauma of a different sort with that which is appearing in your dreams. Please get some good help so that you do not have to drive yourself into a state of more confusion or shame or panic even. There are many good psychiatric professionals available to assist you. It is a positive experience so please do not be afraid of seeing someone. They are only there to help you.
Good Luck.

It is quite possible a lot of things that are traumatic can be locked away by your subconscious and can only be brought back to the surface with the help of a good therapist. Occasionally bad experiences can come back without that help. If you believe that you were abused as a child I would if I were you seek professional help. Good Luck.

Was the person who told you this a credentialed Psychiatrist or Therapist who had spent many hours counseling you?
When asked more than once if they had ever been molested EVERY child will say yes and give details just because the question was repeated according to a study I saw on 60 minutes.

Of course it's possible. In fact it happens quite often. the problem is, what if it was a dream and you say something and ruin an innocent person's life.
You need to get profesional help. Make sure you check out your therapist first, find out if they specialise in what ever type of abuse you may have undergone. check their court records if you can to see if they are always leaning one way. Stay clear of those ones.
If you go see a therapist, remember, be honest and try to be as open as possible. Remember s/he is there to help you. you will only get as much out of it as you put into it.

My question for you is does it matter? Why do you wanna find out something which you've been trying to suppress? If you're happy with your life right now, then I would suggest you dun bother, but if there's some issues with your life and you think it has something to do with a past experience, then I would say go ahead.

See a reputable psychologist. You can't determine this on your own. But be careful not to be led in a direction of memory. It may be just a dream--but go and find out.

I have repressed memories from childhood that I'm scared to delve into. My personality split around the age of twelve, and it took thirty two years till I reappeared. And another six years of therapy till I regained control. Luckily none of my therapists had preconceived notions, or forced me to relive those experiences.

Yes, its called repressing your memories. Its a normal way for people to get over trauma, but it usually comes back later and they remember what happened. Thats when it is difficult to deal with.
