Oh, dang... how do I put this lightly???
Well lets' list a few.
Pimples and breakouts of the skin occur most commonly because of hormonal changes in your body.
Other related causes are, atmosphere, like dust, metal dust, like driving with the windows rolled down, or just dust from the polluted atmosphere, technology has a lot to do here... ummmm
poor skincare habits, as in not thoroughly covering your face (makeup, really - and I am not talking about smudged and loading it up... it's more about what you use too..)) when you head out the door, or not having a routine of cleaning your face, thoroughly, lack of exfoliating, inadequate lotions you might use, and last but not least of all, some fatty acids from certain foods that are not properly processed by your body, that might also casue a breakout. Some people have that from eating mayonnaise, others from chocolate, or other little sins like that ;)
Important to remember is that if the pimple has gotten red and inflamed like that there's definitely infection on a smaller scale going on there.
So you will need to clean that carefully with appropriate stuff. And do not for the life of mine use dirty hands/fingers/nails to squeeze it out!! Make sure you use a tissue if you feel the urge. Keep a log of things you do, foods you eat to determine what changed in your daily routine that might be the cause. If you come up with nothing, it's probably hormones. They change in their own time. You can keep the breakouts really low on Proactiv. So get your hands on some Proactiv and get that taken care of. Proactiv works! Definetly! It prevents infections from developing, and that's crucial. You don't want permanent scars on your face...
Also do yourself some good and as they heal, put some sunscreen lotion on it, the highest available. Raw skin tans faster, so if you don't cover it with SPF cream, it will have small spots all over your face.

Good luck.

Stress, imbalanced diet, lack of sleep causes pimples..

Avoid using mirror because it will just make you depressed and touch your pimple which result to prick this out. And this is not good, this will leave scar and dark area in your face.

Ive had a lot of pimples before as in a lot.. Try to use lukewarm water and mild soap. Do not stress out yourself. Drink lot of fluids and a balance diet.

Try also using Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel . it really works for me

DONT EVER PRICK YOUR PIMPLES....just let it be, put Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel and it will goes away hopefully

The answer explaining about sebaceous glands is correct but let me add that whenever your adrenlin gland works overtime it can cause you more grief.
As my dermatologist explained to me "Stress" causes the adrenel gland to work overtime. Stress described as good stress and bad stress.
Good stress being those things that you look forward to or get excited about.
Bad stress being those things that we don't look forward to.
Using Ivory soap or Basis soap will help.
As my dermatologist also explained to me those glands get plugged because we are not cleaning properly because we are using the wrong soaps and not allowing the skin to rid itself of dead skin cells which keep dirt and oil trapped.
My dermatologist also explained to me that when I put lotions on etc I was also adding to the problem as most lotions have a certain amount of oil of some kind in them. It is important to use specific lotions and creams that do not contain oils.
Today I do not adhere strictly to these guidelines but I try to watch what I do and my face problems have improved greatly compared to what I was doing prior to my dermatologists instructions.

Adult acne is called Rosacea and it can be treated by a dermotologist or doctor. Metrogel works well....but do get it treated, it will only worsen with stress and leave scars.

It could be from stress- especially if it's on your chin. You might need to go to a dermatologist and have them shoot cortisone into it. Don't pick this one- it will scar!
