It really depends on the size of the tattoo and the elasticity of your skin. I am tired of people talking about tattoos stretching with weight gain when they do not know what they are talking about.

Tattoos will stretch and shrink was you gain and loose weight, but they do so appropriate to your weight gain or loss. Normally, tattoos do not disfigure when this happens, unless the tattoo is really small and you loose a considerable amount of weight, then it could look like a blob of ink, but I guess this is just another example of why you should not get a really small tattoo to begin with.

Oh and a tattoo will actually take the focus off those strach marks you were talking about.

Depending on where it is at the tattoo will become disfigured. You see it a lot when women get pregnant and have tattoos on their abdomen. It also depends on how much weight you loose. I would say loose the weight and do not worry what happens to the tattoo, your health is more important. You can always get a good artist to tattoo over your old one after you loose the weight.

A tattoo is more likely to disfigue if u put on a lot of weight after getting it done as the tattoo will crack as the skin stretches. If u lose weight after u have it done it should not alter the appearance of the tattoo at all. x

Speaking from personal experience etc.... as I am heavily tattooed, and lost 135 lbs. If you lose the weight slowly, exercize and keep yourself in shape you should be fine. Its the fast dramatic weight loss that can damage your tattoo as your skin is not given enough time to regain its shape naturally.

I have tattooed shoulders and blades...and I've lost 100lbs since I got the first one there and it isn't altered at all. This is because the skin on your entire back, especially shoulders, is naturally rather elastic. It shouldn't be too affected if at all. You can always get it fixed once you lose all the weight you plan to lose.

the tat would most likely shrink in size a little because of the skin shrinking .....my boyfriend just recently lost 50 pounds and when i met him he had this five point star that cover his inside of the arm and u had to turn his arm to see the whole thing and now u can just look at his arm and see the whole thing
