This is for the people that are for the three
strike law. People whom were given the
three strike did more then there time even
if it was 11 yreas. They are pety thef not
rapist, child molesters, serial killers, or
just gang killers these people are just
drug addict that need to be helped (0nly
if they want the help). Those kind of people yes they do need to stay behind bars for
25 to life. I understand that 100%, but when
you know they can do better and someone
show them the way, like Rehap. Center,
Vocational schooling. Something to get
them back on track. Just like they do with
the people with DUI back grounds.
Thats all I'm saying. Hell yeah keep the really bad ones in, I'm all for that.

until our government wises up and realizes we need to focus on rehabilitation, not punishment, we will probably not see an end to repeat offenders... sad but true

geez, I don't know... maybe they are repeat offenders because they aren't being rehabilitated? repeat offenders obviously have a problem and need help... stop thinking of it as good vs evil.

I don't think it's fear that someone who commits a crime has to spend so much time in prison. Because, everyone only lives once. The Goverment is doing their job, but their job sometimes takes over other people's life. I also got to see the way Jail is. I was there for ONE day, and already wanted to kill myself. Not only do the guards not care a thing, but they are also very corruptive. The police men working there, call the inmates names, and such. Which I don't think was cool what so ever.
"... They're just visiting... our home. It's their job"
an inmate told me.

Unfortnately, there is currently a large number of people in prison for drug "crimes". The three strike law is meant to keep more people in prison- period. Most prisons today are commercially owned and are big business for the companies that own them. They make big profits on the prison labor. Basically, unless enough people wake up to this crap and demand action, nothing will change.

That sounds kinda harsh for just stealing, especially if they just received stolen goods. Geeze. It's pretty crazy how the law SOMETIMES give theives a higher sentence than rapists and murders. Maybe if you get enough people to petition against it and do a strike, it'll help them change that law. Good-Luck!

I think the 3 strike law is ok, because if you do the crime, you got to pay the piper, and do the time.

rehab has nothing to do with repeat offenders hence the term and no they shouldn't change the law .. if you know you live in a 3 strike state and you go out and do something stupid and petty like stealing then you take responsibility for it and go to jail and if it means the rest of your life then oh well .. that is the biggest problem in this country today - no one takes responsibility for their actions they want to blame it on every one and then want every one to fix the problems they have created.
