Okay well my friend who I should not named is a Buddhist and people are really injustifying her feelings. They say she's stupid to be a Buddhist, that she should convert to Christianity. But I don't really think that's fair, and it's whatever she wants to believe let her believe.

You see, I am a christian, but I do NOT put down other religions just cuz I don't believe them.

But these people in class are making me f*c*ing mad.

What Do YOU THINK? My friend is deeply, almost what I would call depressed. Do you think it's fair? Some people are just soo freaking obessesed with their own beliefs, can't they just take a break and give others a chance?! I mean because of this i would go buddhist for the sake of my friend. its terrible...they call her a ***** cuz shes buddhist and saying that buddha is just fake and lazy and dumb and now she's crying her head off. she can be really sensitive, but wouldnt anyone if they called their God dumb and lazy? give me advice and dnt be racist!

it must be great to be surrounded by Christians. even bad one.
we Christians in the real world face that every day.
if I were you I would not try to convert her, but I would explain why I believe in Jesus.

Why does anyone even care what anyone elses faith is?
Unless you are at a religion affiliated school there is no reason to even bring up religion.
Who are these "people" you see acting like bullies...Does your school have any anti-bullying rules? I mean really..is it just one or two people or is it a bunch of cowards hiding behind "group think" as a twisted way to feel superior for a second.

Truthfully we really don't know if any beliefs in the afterlife are true or wishfull thinking... As a Buddhist there is not concern for the suffering but an acceptance of it as part of the human condition.

I would avoide these people as much as possible and if that is not possible I would think about taking the problem to a school counselor or teacher or the office if it is big time harrassment...it all depends on how you want to go forward from here and just keep standing by your friend no matter what else you do or don't do.

obviously the Christians that make fun of her don't know anything about Buddhism. That's ridiculous. Buddhism is the most peaceful religion in the world today. You better tell her not to give up her religion just because of other people. I'm agnostic, but I feel sometimes a sort of jealousy with people who have a lot of faith, and who stand up for what they believe in no matter what people think of them. (just sometimes) then i think realistically. Please dont make her convert just because of some christian punks.

ps buddhism doesn't believe in a true god. Sometimes it's more a philosophy...depends what kind of buddhist you are.

Let her be a Bhuddhist for God's sake.

She should be able to be active in any and all religious discussions with no repercussions and she could contribute very well no doubt about it.

Buddha and buddhists have a lot of wisdom and a lot to contribute to the world.

Buddha's looks have nothing to do with anything and are wholly immaterial to anything whatsoever.

Pretty much all religion is a good thing, all have something to offer and contribute to the world and there are large areas of crossover between any and all i.e. regarding love, kindness, generosity, etc.

Vaya con dios, go with God.

Peter

I don't think your friend has a problem with her religion. She has a problem with her class mates.

The people who abuse the church to push their own beliefs onto others are not really Christians. Hurting other people's feelings go against every spirit rooted in Christianity. It also goes against our American values that everybody has freedom of religion.

The best advice I can give you is to support and stick up for your friend. I would discuss it with the school, too. Hazing and religious persecution is wrong no matter how you twist it..

Kids can be cruel. So can christians. Especially if they're taught to hate in the name of a supposedly loving god, as all too many of them are.

Is it fair? Of course not. Life often isn't. Still, she's lucky that she has at least one friend who understands and cares.

Odds are the jerks won't stop until they're confronted somehow. I'd recommend talking to a school counselor, they deal with this kind of stuff pretty regularly.

As her friend, accept her as she is and tell her to believe what she feels right in her heart. Buddhism is actually a very loving and beautiful religion. Encourage her to just politely put aside the words of the people who are demeaning her beliefs.
Be there for her, that's the christian thing to do from your point.

Basically hating people/religion isn't illegal

considering that Christians did that is apphalling, you might need them converted first man...that's low..

If you live in the U.S., you have freedom of religion, so none can "force" religion onto some one...yeah..

It's basically the same as all bullying and harassment. The most she can do is go for some introspection.

I won't lie, it's not easy to ignore the harassment of the majority of civilization. But it's doable.

Tell her to do what she belives in. Of all the religions, Buddhist is one of the least harmful to people. If she is going to belive something, she has the right idea. People love touting their own religion. christians tend to attack any who do not agree with them. You should consider changing to your friends.
