If you already know spanish, I think french will be easier to learn than German. There are many Francophone countries, such as France (Naturually), Canada, Switzerland and several in Africa. German countries basically include Germany (of course) Switzerland and Austria.
Personally I think German is more fun (I chose it over French), but it's up to you.

French. There are a number of countries that use French as an official language, and it is also studied by many students of non-French speaking nations throughout Europe. I speak English & French and found when backpacking thru Europe that between the two I could communicate with almost anyone. I once had a whole conversation in French with an Italian man who spoke no English. :-)

French is very close to Spanish, though you may gets some words comfused between the two. German is action intensive, and probably would require more effort to become proficient in. French is better for Art, and German better for medicine or engineering. Latin would give you a good foundation for graduate school. Unless you plan on working in Europe, also consider Chinese, Arabic, or Japanese. All of them could potentially increase your employability and pay.

If you have already learned a good deal of spanish, french is going to hurt you more than help because it will be easy to confuse certain aspects with spanish. German is a good choice because it being a cousin to english (english is also a germanic language) it will be easy to learn and will probably surprise you how much it has in common with english. Well anyway there's my 2 cents. Good Luck.

German used to be the most widespread language in Europe, but that's changed...French would be marginally more useful at this point, especially if you're planning to live in Canada.

You know they are kind of a tie. However, if you take French, there are more areas that covers (i.e. some areas of africa and canada) also, I think French is such a beautiful language. And France is way more fun to visit than Germany!!! Its fun to speak.

If you aren't scared of hard work, definitely, German. If you want the easy and common way out well, take French
