i believe mary and joseph kept the gift, and then gave it to Jesus when he grew old, and Jesus gave it to the poor... Because Jesus do not matter the gold...

what makes you say there were 3 wise men ? the bible simply says that "wise men " came from the east..it never said there were 3 of them ??/ its just says wise men came from the easy bearing gifts of frankinsense myrhh and gold.
