Your brain is still fully awake.... it thinks that you have dropped something in reality and signals the hand to catch / hold the dropped thing.... and thus the reaction of your hand takes place

Your hand shakes because it is an auto-reflex to you thinking about dropping items.
Perhaps, some time during your (early?) childhood, you dropped something and that "imprinted" your arm to reflect that item causing the major muscle arm movement.
I have very recently violently pushed the entire headboard off of my bed, trying to avoid the many falling (upwards?) boxes flowing upwards from the back side of my bed! - Because I keep a tall lamp on my headboard, it fell away from the bed and broke the glass photo-frame I have hanging on the wall behind my bed. :-(
Can someone please recommend where I should by a 36 inch * 48 inch * 1/8 inch thick glass pane?

Stresses of the day being released...is my guess. I say that because for many years ..I'd get "tasered" just before dropping off to sleep and feel as though my whole body lifted in shock about 3 feet in the air. No one could explain it...it is hindsight that brought forth the answer. I was very stressed and didn't even know it...but the body does. It doesn't happen anymore b/c I am no longer stressed.

Not knowing your age--I would suggest that you see a Doctor and have a few nerve-ending test. It could be something that can be controlled or even reversed. It never hurts to check it out in the earliest stages!
