Sorry for the ordering error. It's late on the N.A. east coast.

1. Member of the Armed Forces
2. Physician/nurse/psychotherapis...
3. Carpenter/Electrician/Plumber/...
4. Astronomer/Biologist/Chemist/P...
5. Teacher/Coach/Child care worker
6. Minister/priest/nun
7. Artist/Musician/Writer

It was a tough choice between Armed Forces and Physician. I decided on my first choice because without any kind of protection of our country, we would lose everything we have. Physicians are important because they can save our lives--and without life we have nothing here. I didn't choose physicians as first because I think that we can take some control over taking care of our bodies like eating healthier, exercising, etc. and using simple herbal remedies when possible. Skilled trades are very important because their knowledge is necessary and not everyone can do these things. I rated teacher lower than most people because I feel that many things can be taught at home---home schooling is becoming popular. However, I highly respect our educators for the job they do and feel they are grossly underpaid.
Thanks. Your question made me think. I still may tweak the order a little.

I choose 2) to experience and share the joys of art, imagination and creativity, but, with the very specific & primary purpose of using these talents to contribute and support the activities of 6) & 7). I see set 2 as a gift and a tool to apply to individual & group therapy; building self esteem; encouraging communities & cultures to reaffirm their identities, traditions and place in the world; enrich people's lives; particularly in Third World situations where, perhaps, such seemingly immaterial values can serve to bring peace of mind, joy and improve the quality of life of those who have precious little in material resources.

1) Artist/Musician/Writer; life is hardly worth living without these
2) Physician/nurse/psychotherapis...; life is difficult to live without these
3) Carpenter/Electrician/Plumber/...; we'd be living in tents/caves without these
4) Teacher/Coach/Child care worker; the next generation would be living in tents without these
5) Astronomer/Biologist/Chemist/P...; hope for the future

The other two groups do more harm than good.

1) Carpenter/Sparky/Plumber
2) Doctor
3) Scientist
4) Teacher
5) Artist
6) Armed Forces
7) Minister

I chose my ordering based on what is REALLY important in life as a whole not just on personal preference. I looked back to the past and look at now an there is little difference in the ordering, we still need tradesmaen to build the houses etc,, doctors to heal teh sick, scientiest to advance our lifestyles, teachers to pass on knowledge, artists to provide entertainment, armed forces to secure us and finally, if required ministers to preach to us.

Well, the teacher is the most important while all others are up to the beholder. How can all those occupations be filled without teachers to give an education?

Teacher would be the most important of all. If you didn't have teachers and mentors, how would you know how to do the rest of the jobs you have listed?
