Yes. That's fine, especially for an evening wedding.

Black is always the endless classic, EXCEPT where weddings are concerned! I know, it's old-fashioned of me to say, but I can't help but feeling it's very morbid. Are you mourning those being wed? If you want to wear something dark, a navy blue or a dark purple would be just lovely, without giving off that "I'm going to a funeral" vibe.
Incidentally, however, there are some cultures that seem to expect the women to come in black. If that's the case, you would of course follow suit.

I would go with no. Old fashioned rules of etiquette say that wearing black to a wedding communicates that you are unhappy about the marriage, or disapprove. Unless of course it is a black and white theme, or a Halloween wedding.
You might contact the bride/groom and see how they feel about it -- they might not ascribe to the old fashioned rules!
I hope you have a lovely time, regardless of what you end up wearing.

Yes it's fine and lots of people do it all the time. If you are in the wedding then you should wear whatever the bride and groom colors are for the wedding. If your just a guest then no one really cares what you wear as long as its decent and clean not just everyday street clothes.

There's nothing wrong with it. Black is a classic color. I see it all the time. I go to at least one wedding a month and black is the color the majority of people wear. I'm sure you'll look great!

Black is a very classic colour. It goes with everything. But imagine if all guests turn up wearing black. Would it upset the bride and groom? What if the bride and groom are also wearing gothic black for their wedding and they tell you it's alright to if you wear a black vampirish suit...or gown?
It all boils down to what the bride and groom thinks of the whole thing. It's supposed to be their happy day and if they think black is qooool, you have the green light for black, irregardless of what the other guests think or say!
Be a gracious guest and ask your host if unsure.

Yes. Evening weddings are considered formal, so wearing black is just fine.

Black is classy, and fits into almost any and all occasions. However, this being a wedding, you might want to reconsider your choice of dress. But if you really like the black dress and think it suits the occasion, why not. One suggestion though, get a yellow shawl or some bright-coloured accesories like diamond studs or bright coloured handbags to set it off.

Sure. Went to a wedding a couple of months ago where the bridesmaids wore black! It was unusual, but very striking. But try not to make it all-black, or sombre in style, so you aren't mistaken for someone going to a funeral.
