I want my girlfriend to stop being so selfish and help others. I told her to donate blood and she said she doesn't like needles. WIll the red cross take menstrual blood? I'm not familiar with menstrual blood but i'm assuming its the same.

No, it is not the same... I don't know if you are being serious or not, but menstrual blood is NOT pure blood. It contains several things that I won't get into... First of all, it does not mean she is selfish if she doesn't want to donate blood. If she doesn't like needles (me either) she can volunteer for the Red Cross and help in other ways...my job was to pass out cookies and punch to people after they gave blood. This is still a very giving thing to do and it helps the Red Cross in other ways besides giving blood. You should just worry about yourself and the ways you can help others... you can SUGGEST ways for others to help but should not be TELLING other people what to do!! That's what parents are for.

Ohhh my.... are you serious?

No, I really don't think you can go up there and offer menstrual blood. It's not as though your girlfriend can just wear a little cup down there for a few days, and I think even the Red Cross would have an aversion to, in essence, "juicing" a tampon.

You're aware, right, that there are other ways to help humanity that require no needles and no psychotic-lifesaving boyfriends offering up menstruation fluids on her behalf, aren't you? Volunteering at a local hospital, children's home, or nursing home. "Adopting" a grandparent. Working with the Humane Society. Working with Habitat for Humanity. Manning an Angel Tree at Christmastime. Doing a Storytime at a local Elementary school. Big Brother/Big Sister. Taking part in the March of Dimes (for premature babies) or Race for the Cure (breast cancer research). There are millions of ways people can help others. Each of us is suited in one way or another, and you have no right to make your girlfriend feel like she's selfish because she's not able to do YOUR form of helping others, and you DEFINATELY don't have a right to decide what she does with her blood, menstrual or otherwise. If everyone had to choose the same way to help mankind, the great majority of people would go unhelped.

This question isn't even funny... At least some of the other 'stupid' ones you can laugh at.

This just makes me feel sorry for you, because you really need some help.

Now run back to mommy so she can tuck you into bed.

No they probablly dont. Its really not the same...But anyway, giving blood is a choice. I dont think you should force her into doing it if she dont want to, Thats something she needs to decide on her own. Sorry but I think you're the one being selfish!!!!

Ummm....What do you expect her to do, Squat over a pot and let it all run out...or perhaps ring out her tampons into a bag....Sounds like a big no to me...since it is contaminated with lining and such...I would not want menstrual blood in my body...Thats just me tho....

ewwwww! - No. (For one thing, a woman doesn't produce enough blood - it may seem like it, but it's a very small quantity; for another thing, a woman's period basically flushes her body of the "lining" her body prepares for fertilization - if her egg is not fertilized, then she has a period.)

Why don't you just have the nurse show you how to draw blood and you can take it from her while she is sleeping.

Umm no because menstrual blood comes from your insides and is your egg.
