I make this cake every thanksgiving & christmas. Its called Orange Slice Cake.
Hints: roll orange slice candy in flour while slicing.
put the OS candy, dates, nuts in separte bowls & add all these goodies last-after cake dough is mixed & stir these yummy's in w/ BIG spoon.

I always bake my cake in a bundt pan (round cake pan w/hole in middle) for same amount or time as the tube pan.

Last...always heat a slice about 15 seconds in microwave before eating.

I would just make any good moist butter cake, substitute a little orange juice for some of the liquid in the recipe, add a little bit of finely grated orange peel to intensify the flavor, and bake as usual. Frost with a rich buttercream also made with a little bit of orange juice. Garnish with your candy orange slices and fresh mint sprigs. Voila!

Just chop the orange slices up and add pumpkin seeds, shelled out sunfrower seeds, and dried cranberry. Stir into your favorite package mix and presto a new taste. If you are adventurous add muscadine wine to make the cake mix(instead of water).

In the event that it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
