marketing really. very few "special" stereo sets are worth their weight. the only really good factory system was the Nakamichi system in the late 90s Lexus. this set from mustang is generally aftermarket products that are assembled to make the system better than stock, but with a little more kick to them. not sure of the extra bucks but you could do the same, if not better were you to buy your own components and hook up your stereo that way. this is essentially another attraction to the slumping sales of the mustang. the shaker 1000 is the high end of three different systems ford offers for these cars. the top dog system, the 1000, has more power and two subs in a specially made enclosure in the trunk. they do not list the manufacturer of the components so they could be the same crap you get out of the jcwhitney catalog or at your local pep boys. if you are considering this option, don't. the amount you'll pay will garner you a far better system that you can modify yourself and actually have it perform better,
