Do what YOU want to do. Show them that having fun and being good at something that makes you happy will help you succeed. Don't be afraid to do what you want at this point in life.

It's always hard for most teens to think of their parents as knowing what's best for you. The Video Games club will not look good on your college application, but I have a feeling you probably already know this!! If you are that good of a student that you could join the Honor Society Club then I would definitely join!! If you have time where it won't interfere with your grades and want to join the other just for the fun of it then I would say join it. But know that the choice you make can "make you or break you"!!

You could suggest to them that you will do both of them. Nope your parents can't really "make" you join the Honor Society Club if you don't want to. It's not required by the school so if you want to get legal about it; your parents have the right to tell you what to do in most cases but they can't make you join that club if you don't want to. However they can stop you from joining the Video Games club.
Maybe you could suggest another club that you are willing to join that your parents would like instead of the Honor Society club and plus still join the Video Games club. Tell your parents you are willing to compromise with them on the subject and wish they would do the same. Tell them why you don't want to join the Honor Society Club and give them good reasons, don't tell them things like "because it sucks" ,"I don't want to". Cause they aren't going to listen to that.
Likewise Im not sure about your school but when I was in school a few years ago. I was in the Honor Society and Beta Club, I never went to any of their meetings. I got invite to their clubs and just never went. Yet when I graduated they listed me as a member of those clubs and said I was and gave my my cords/tassle for it. ( I think its all just about your grades, so you might not even have to go to their meetings or anything)

Is it possible for you to join both? As a parent who didn't have enough money to pay for my sons col ledge education, anything that would look good on an application for student aid was very important. It is also important to show clubs and societies that reflect your interests. My son wanted degrees and certificates needed to go into game programing. Do you have an idea of what you want to go to col ledge for? Do your homework and look up what col ledges are looking for in new students. Show evidence that the Video Games will not hurt your chances and how your other clubs and organizations will help.

You have to go to Honor Society? Isn't it about grades anyway. Honor Society is nothing but a damn cord, so do both. Just don't put the gaming club on your app if you don't want to. Most colleges don't care that much about your clubs anyway, just that you're involved.

video games club isn't a good thing to put on your college application, but at the same time you have to choose what's best for you regardless of what your parent's think because it's you who has to live your life...not them. Don't join something that you know you will hate, it will just be a waste of time and may get in the way of you finding something you love.

Depends on your major. If you're in the computer industry or attending college for gaming, video production or game production, it would look GREAT on your college application. Any assocation you can join in your major, will only add to your application. Have fun, work hard, be a good student and any extras to that will only give you a broader education.
Good Luck!~

joining club in college? do whatever you want. I'm in college and I'm in no club and I got job offers even before I graduate. Employers don't care about the clubs you were in.
most people haven't ever been in clubs anyways.
