I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique and i currently have a 620 watt amp that draws 20 amps. I would like to know if i can run a 1440 watt amp that draws 40 amps, if i use a 1.5 or 1.6 farad capacitor. I have absolutly nop problems with the 620 amp, not even dimming lights, so can someone tell me if it will work, or if i will new a alternator upgrade.

I hope not, Noise is Pollution and violates the rights of those who don't want to hear your music.

Lower the boom and keep it too yourself.

Time to upgrade the alternator too. You're gonna need alot of juice to run that. Don't forget about your speakers too. If you're gonna pump up the amp don't blow up your investment.

It should deffinetly be able to handle it, but you should upgrade your cap to 2 maybe 3 farrads. Definetly help, you will also need to get bigger wire ( smaller gauged ) and a big fuse block, to handle all the power.
