it doesn't matter what you took in high school. as long as you graduate or get your ged. a lot of police departments require 60 college credits, thats two years. but some only require ged or hs diploma. i know that for women you used to have to be over 5'2", but now i dont think it matters, as long as you can do 32 sit ups in a minute, run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes and do 15 push ups (it varies by specific police department, but these are typical). you have to be in good shape to pass the physical obstacle course. and yes, you will undergo background checks and polygraph (lie detector) tests.

It sounds like you could qualify. It depends what you mean about ILLEGAL things. If it is minor you should be OK< but part of the process is a lie detector test, so even though you haven't been questioned by the police yet, they will probably find out anyway through the lie detector test. If it was like underage drinking or something just confess and tell them as little as possible but don't lie. Good luck!

Can you strong-arm a suspect and yell in his ear, turn him around and cuff him? If you don't have the physical strength, you might consider some other job in law enforcement.

Assaulting a Police Officer is a legal crime in this state and in many others. Mace is an attack. in case you attempt to show a weapon (specific, MACE is a weapon) at a police officer, or every person else, it quite is justifiable clarification for deadly tension. the clarification is, the officer would not understand what you're pointing at him. For all he knows, you're spraying nerve poison at him. in case you want to get removed from the officer, than you're restricted to attempting to out run him, his acquaintances, different patrol autos, the radio calls, the helicopter, and finally, the police canine. reliable success. . .
