That's crazy! There is no need to tip when you can get a hair cut for $15 at super cuts. What a waste of money.
If you feel like tipping then tip 5%.

Basic gratuity is 15 % for most service oriented business'. Salons are slightly different in that we are talking licensed and/or trained professionals.
Non-Master Cosmetologists get normal rating on tips of around $2 to $3 bucks for shampoo/cut/blow-dry. Who you are tipping is the "person" NOT the salon!
The type of salon service YOU are receiving is on a "master" level. Thus you should "tip" accordingly. Salon visits with that price are generally left a tip of $15 to $20.
They all work on commission. Salons are "owned". The people performing the services are either contracted or hourly paid. Thus the person that actually did the $225 job on you gets a small percentage of that price. She/He depends on their tips to supplement whatever perm/treatment/braid/weave/cut/style they did on commission.
So be generous to the the person that does your hair. The tip goes straight to THEM.

first I am a beautician, what kind of services are you having done.? Chemical services can be tipped at a bigger amount, usually 15 to 20 percent. Typically at these prices the operator already receives half of this price, if she is renting a space, so there fore only a small tip is necesary, a tip is just basically saying, I am happy with the job you did, it does not have to be extravagant, give only what you can afford, and what makes you comfortable, the longer she spends with you, the better the tip.

It's just like a waitress if you're satisfied with the service 20% if not 10 or 15. Last time I got my hair done it cost $90 and I gave him a 20 dollar tip. I've got waist length hair and had it dyed black for several years (naturally blond). I didn't want to cut it so I had the dye stripped out. It took two days and about 10 hours total it cost me about $300 and (that was her being nice and giving me a discount) I tipped her well. You've got to be nice to you're hairdresser and tip them well especially if you love your hair as much as I do.

you're no longer paying her for the quantity she takes to the air, you're buying what she leaves. if she provides a suited haircut in in basic terms 10 minutes, it truly is because of the fact she's experienced at her activity and has years of experience. the quantity of the top is as much as you. a minimum of 15% is the customary norm in spite of the shown fact that a great form of folk provide closer to 20%. i tip $10 on a $35 shrink. that previous rule approximately no longer tipping the owner is in basic terms that.... previous and old. confident, tip your hair stylist, no rely whether s/he's the owner or no longer. i've got by no potential had a tip back because of the fact the owner develop into insulted and that i've got been to many, many hairstylists who have been additionally the owner.

Depends entirely on the degree of improvement as calculated on the "Nikkor Beauty Scale." If you leave looking only 10% more attractive than when you went in, tip 10%. Most women leave looking somewhere around 15% to 20% better so I'd probably leave it at that.

now that's a question i should be asking, mine is also about the same, after paying that every other month i know some places are more expensive than others, and "some do the same work, so if they get a $10 - 25 dollar tip, its because i had extra money, or they did a great job!

I say you need a new beautician. A wash and set is only $55. If you get a perm that would be $75. I think you need to find a new beautician.

15-20% if the stylist is an employee of the salon. Nothing if he/she is the owner. that's the accepted international tipping guideline for salons.
