The Sphynx in Egypt! Probably built before the end of the last Ice Age, it's evidence of an ancient agricultural civilization.

If you're referring to Atlantis, evidence for its existence is sketchy at best. The legend was most likely inspired by the Greek island of Thera, which was almost completely destroyed by a volcano about 3,500 years ago.
The ancient civilizations which we know of - such as Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek & Roman - were "modern" in their own time & were truly magnificent.

There is a lot of evidence. The Mayans are but one example. You should do some research on The Temple at Karnak and the city of Mohenjo-Daro. Look up Qin Shi Huangdi and the Pythagoreans as well as the Hellenistic civilization.

Define "modern." Many of the great ancient civilizations were "modern" by their standards and available resources and knowledge. Our modern today may not even compare to the modern of centuries from now.

Not sure of the questions, but by my definition of modern civilization, the answer is a definite YES! All the great civilizations were modern, we only built upon what they created, it was only natural.

Ancient rome had slot vending machines and saunas. sounds pretty modern to me. Actually you need to rephrase your question a bit better

Rome was very modern, with indoor toilets and heated baths, running water, sewer system, and many more inventions and innovations.
