I recently discovered that my niece has been lyin about her age. she's 16 and she's big for her age, so she's been sayin that she's older. could this be a self esteem problem? most of her classmates are 18. she got in school early. or is she tryin to fit in?

Thanks.

its just a matter of fitting in.... if she feels more confortable lying... I say just leave it but someday she has to realize that its okay to be different

I think at that age we all said we were older than what we are,No teen wants to be viewed as a kid any more,Then when you get older you say you are younger b/c we don't want to be old,So I think it's normal,I would only worry if she was telling guys she went out with if she dates, that could lead to more problems.

Probably. It could also be that she is trying to get some of the privileges that 18 year olds get.

if it is anything that is important they will ask for her id to prove she is 18, then if her friends are around they will know the truth.

She's just trying to fit in. I don't think she's deliberate about it. Just leave her alone. She'll be o.k.
