Here are some tips to help the healing process.

Quick Action Plan for Fibromyalgia

1. A healthy, whole foods diet is an important part of any fibromyaglia treatment program. Emphasize organic foods, especially fresh, organic vegetables, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day. For even more benefits, consider adopting a vegetarian diet, which has been shown to significantly reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.

2. Essential nutrients to help treat fibromyalgia include vitamin C, vitamin E, niacinimide (vitamin B3), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA-an essential fatty acid), magnesium, selenium, zinc, and the lipotrophic factors inositol, methionine, and phosphatidyl choline. The nutritional supplements cetyl myristoleate and SAMe are also highly beneficial, as it the Meyers Cocktail, which must be administered by a trained health care practitioner.

3. Herbal remedies for fibromyalgia include cayenne and chamomile. An herbal combination of tinctures of black cohosh, celery, dandelion, devil`s claw, Echinacea, and licorice in equal parts, can also be helpful.

4. Homeopathic remedies for fibromyalgia include Arnica, Bryonia, and Rhus. Tox.

5. Various bodywork therapies, such as Massage, Acupressure, Bowen Therapy, Feldenkrais, myotherapy, Rolfing, Shiatsu, Therapeutic Touch, and Trigger Point Therapy, can provide significant relief of fibromyalgia pain and speed healing.

6. Mind/body medicine therapies such as biofeedback, guided imagery and visualization, hypnotherapy, and meditation, can help relieve chronic stress, thereby soothing muscle tension and reducing pain

Conventional physicians treat fibromyalgia primarily through the use of painkiller medications. Such an approach fails to address the multiple causes of fibromyalgia, and also carries with it the risk of serious side effects. In addition, this symptom care approach is typical of conventional medicine`s failure to properly understand chronic health conditions such as fibromyalgia, which explains why it so often fails to successfully treat such conditions. Practitioners of alternative medicine, on the other hand, focus their treatment approaches on the multiple factors involved in fibromyalgia in order to eliminate them, while simultaneously stimulating the body`s ability to repair itself. What follows is an overview of some of the most common therapies they employ in order to achieve those goals.

I believe you can heal yourself, but it will take some committment.
The answers are out there, so keep searching.

Best of health to both of you.

Cheers

Yes, you should have a complete physical to determine if there are any other possible problems. Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion..in other words, other conditions need to be ruled out first. Second, you should be evaluated by a rheumatologist or pain management, as these are typically the specialists that deal with this condition. The symptoms are treatable, but prevention through lifestyle modifications will help prevent recurrences/exacerbations or minimize the symptoms...

I am not sure if you have the same thing as me? I was put on the highest birth control pill to prevent growth and had surgery, removal of the fibros only. All helped and though they can come back, I was told I had ten years before I needed to think about full removal. Hope this helped?

have doc run test for hepatitis c....tell him NOT to rely on a standard blood lab/liver panel...he HAS to check for antibodies!

Fibro is REAL and is a Symptom so ignore the idiots who obviously do not know what they are talking about.

There is a cure for fibro.....the doctor just has to find the CAUSE.

Many folks who have been diagnosed as firbo also had hcv....it was reversed in many by antiviral chemotherapy.

If your doctor cannot find anything wrong, do the food diary.
I would try to eat as little as meat as you can. The increase in many "new" diseases these days are due to steroids in meats.
(Just like MSRA infections....too many antibiotics).

Fibro is NOT all in one's head...SOMETHING Causes it.

sorry for yelling....i am just trying to stress my point to those who don't seem to understand that disease is possible even if others do not experience it themselves.

HUGS! I know how you feel!

There is no cure for fibromyalgia, but doctors can treat and control the symptoms. If you have fibromyalgia, you can help manage the symptoms by taking an active role in your treatment.

Treatment may be different for each person. It can include:

Getting regular exercise to help with muscle aches and stiffness.
Changing your routine, schedule, and surroundings to improve your sleep habits and reduce stress.
Taking medicine to help you sleep better and to relieve pain.
Getting counseling to help you to manage long-term (chronic) pain and find better ways to handle stress.
Some people with fibromyalgia also find complementary therapies helpful. These include acupuncture, massage, behavioral therapy, and relaxation techniques.

i said repeatedly, fibromyalgia patient are the most annoying, because i truely believe 95 % of them have social stress rather than the fragile diagnosis fibromyalgia.
look at yourself in depth & see what is really bothering you., is it the kids, hubby, parents or all of the above.?
second step is to visit a good rheumatologist to see if you have the 11 points (out of 19 possible) required to dagnose fibromyalgia, you may very well have another condition(if the pain is real & associated with morning stiffness lasting hours).
# 3 do NOT take loratab & other narcotics & dont ask for them, think about it this way: even if you have REAL fibromyalgia, then its only PAIN, it will NOT destroy your joints like arthritis, so its not dangerous at all, try to cope with the pain, because pain is more or less a very subjective phenomenon.
do that for yourself 7 your family & stop complaining.
need further help, please e mail me, & i will be ready to answer every single question.
GO BACK TO LIFE , RIGHT NOW.
good luck

i too have fibro....u'll definitely need moral support from loved ones, keep stress to a minimum (i know, oxy-moron), keep a daily log of foods, activities, and your mood. you should start to see a pattern of triggers after awhile, then you can try to minimize those things that cause you to "flare". stress, carbonated beverages, caffiene are some of my triggers. my fibro is really bad, i'm on disability because of it. but i am learning what my triggers are and it makes it easier to deal with.
