Is there anyone from California who has gone through the legal process in filing for child custody and support? The father and I both have mediation coming up and I would like to know what to expect? What do they generally ask us? What do I need to perpare for as the mediator asks me questions, etc, etc,. Also, is there anyway possible if the father fights me if he wants to get out of child support. We already have a DNA test proving he is the father indeed. He just doesn't want to pay and be responsible. I will not allow him to act this way and inturn, my child missing out on anything because of his lack of responsibility and maturity. Let me know your experiences. Thank you! :-)

I have been through this. There are many factors but, he will be ordered to pay child support, even if he has no job. If he does not pay, they will take it out of his check. If he quits they will suspend his drivers license, until there is a payment schedule arranged. When that doesn't work he will have a warrant for his arrest and will go to jail. ALL of the above happened with my child's father and none of it worked. 9 years later I had him sign away his parental rights, I don't need the headache any more. You need to provide them with all the info you have. Especially, his income, place of employment, and how much he has actually paid (proof if you have it). He'll probably try to lie to get out of any back support. Ultimately he can avoid for a LONG time if he wants, my sons father did. Email me if you want more info, I've been though it all.

In my experiences with CA's "fabulous" family courts the first thing you need to know is that the mediator really has the ball, what he/she recommends to the court is what happens unless you have a good lawyer to fight for you. Keep your cool NO MATTER WHAT!! I can't stress that enough. And (if you can without him/her knowing it) try to piss off your ex so they see how he acts when he's pissed. Don't say anything about when you two were together because that's not what they want to hear and often times they think your just trying to seek revenge and don't have the child's best interest at heart. Stay calm and keep your comment limited to your child. I've done this twice and the first time I LOST the second time I WON. (Two different dads) Please.... if you don't listen to anything else.....keep in mind, you have to stay calm. Good luck

extremely relies upon on how back logged the courts are and also the tsting lab doing the paternal try. maximum courts push those form of situations via their dockets extremely right away once the try is completed
