It depends on the food, his activity level, and his structure. Each dog is different. If he isn't a performance, show, or breeding dog, I'd start by feeding what's recommended on your bag of dog kibble. You can adjust it up or down if you see he's gaining or loosing too much.

I feed 6 cups a day, spaced thru 2 feedings. My boy is 1year+4 mo. It depends on his weight now- so check the food label. Some foods recommend feeding less because it is more highly digestible, so if you switch or have to switch foods- keep an eye on that.
