I keep hearing this from every girl I talk to. My ex girlfriend was molested at a young age, two of my best friends (girls) were raped at young ages, but before they told me, I'm talking about my past and all sorts of things. Right when I ask them what they were about to tell me, they always walk away , then after pestering them a little bit , they blurt it out so that only i can hear it and then I just stand there looking dumb. What the heck is up with that?

Maybe you seem like the type of person who can be trusted, and you've opened the door for them to talk by talking about personal things yourself. The situations your friends have gone through aren't rare unfortunately. So try to be a friend and listen, and if you don't care to hear about personal details, then don't get personal.

I think that girls want to share a bit about you, perhaps a dark secret or something that they thinks colors their life in a way that they think you should know.

The fact is that the % of women molested at a young age is fairly high so part of this is strictly percentages....

i think honestly they want to share something about them. You could respond do you want to talk about that sometime or just say, I'm sorry that happened. That wasn't a good experieence for you in other words just show her you are listening.

many of these girls may be troubled getting involved in a relationship because of these past traumatic experiences.

Don't try and solve their problems. Just listen!

thats bad luck for sure. What are really the chances that you find a girl with problems such as that big. Just consider yourself lucky that you found out now before it got into anything more serious. It really hard to have a good conection with girls who go through things like that, they find it hard to trust and it will take lots of work. Not saying its not worth it, but if you really dont know how to deal with it, than best you know now. Are all of these girls friends or do they talk to one another? not saying that they lie but if they want to break up for whatever reason some girls (its sick) make up lies such as that. Or maybe craving some attention. If thats so than they need help and your better off with out them. But if its true than they should go get help and take their time getting into a relationship. I am sure the next girl you date will have less problems.

You obviously seek those who are emotionally scarred. You might be someone who always tries to help and your subconscience can pick them out a mile away. Isn't the mind an amazing thing. Alot of people do it for other reasons too. You know the one girl who always picks the abusers...same thing. Sometimes it is what you grew up with and you are comfortable in that situation b/c that's what you know. Wierd but true

It means you're tuned in to people who are, for want of a better word, damaged. They're deeply affected by what happened to them--and it shows. You're able to percieve and you're seeking it out either to help them or because you're somehow enjoying their pain or what the pain has done to their personality (made them more sensitized, fragile, etc).

What is it you feel when you're just standing there? Why do you always want to know?

On the other hand, it means they can see something in you--either a strong person who can help them in some way, or another person to continue the abuse they feel they deserve. (I didn't say any of this had to be rational.)

Be a good friend. Make them feel safe with you. And if their problems are bigger than you can deal with, help them get help.

obviously they don't want to tell you about their past, so don't pester them and they won't feel like they have to tell you, and they won't get mad and blurt it out.
