I was a Combat Water Survival Instructor in the Marine Corps and worked with alot of Recon guys. They really know their stuff and are extremely well trained. Not to mention the pride of being a Marine.
For any Special Forces work you'll need to show high proficiency in many things (fitness, rifle, etc.) before you can even be considered. If you're lucky enough to be selected for ANY of the Special Forces then you have my congrats.

I've got a nephew like you. He figured out the seal stuff was way more swiming than he was up for. He's in the air force as a TAC P and tactical air controller paratrooper. He's attached to an Army ranger outfit. That's pretty exciting stuff. His job is to call in the air strikes, now that's a real weapon.
He was an athlete in college before he went in and the training was rough on him. So you better brace yourself. I like the Army Rangers, but the Seals are probably the best trained and equipped. Good luck all the branches are looking for special forces volunteers. Check out the air force para-rescue bunch they get into to some very sticky situations.

Most of the Military Spec Ops have a rigorous physical and mental training session to get through, but if you make it through that then any one of them will accept you. If you want to be in the action so to speak go with either Marine Force Recon, USAF Combat Control or TAC-P teams, or Navy SEALs. They will put you into the action if you can pass the rigorous training involved for them. PJs don't get into the action as much as the others do but they do get to para jump as much as possible. I also wanted to go USAF Spec Ops but was unable to because of my eyesight was just below standards. The physical is murder for that stuff so you might want to make sure that you are in almost perfect health. Obviously the options are wide open for you, the question is what do you ultimately want out of the your tour in service? Answering this will help you decide on which branch to choose. Also a little research on each branches Spec Ops wouldn't hurt.

Any stupid shythead that wants to join the special forces because hes a "thrill seeker" will get laughed at. And the recruiters wont bug the hell outta you to join special forces, because they have plenty of people sign up, like you, and about 75% bytch out by the end, like you.
Grow a pair of testicles first, until then stick to Halo 2.

The Navy Seals are definitely a better class of people and are way better trained than any other special forces. If you think you are intelligent enough and can handle it then come see what you can do. You are going to have to be better than average in every way.

My husband and I are both in the army. However, we suggest RECON. Then I suggest you get out after your first term and go work for private MERC agencies like Blackwater. They handle all the cool **** in Iraq, where I am currently serving, and get paid a fortune for it. And they don't have any rules to live by, so they can actually accomplish the mission and stay alive. And they have alot of fun. And don't listen to the first answer, you can get Ranger and Special Forces in your contract. Recon is something you have to be selected for, though.
Good luck with your decision.

Don't get too cocky, those recruiters just want to fill their quota. The military does need thrill seekers anyway, they need people who are mentally stable not people who might get themselves or others killed. They will promise the moon to get you to sign up, in your case adventure. These special forces you want into ,will offer you a chance to enter but it's there choice if you get in., not yours. Thats why they call themselves special.

in case you may no longer get by using 4 years of high school, you will possibly no longer stick around to end 4 years contained in the army. i do no longer comprehend your difficulty, it ought to be undesirable sufficient to justify no longer ending up college. yet it somewhat is one reason the army won't take you. the different reason is data. people who complete severe college have a extra physically powerful value of fixing to protection rigidity existence, no longer getting disciplinary issues, and that they carry out extra effective in hassle-free and AIT. people who complete extra effective than severe college do even extra effective. Grunts can no longer escape with being very dumb anymore, in the event that they ever ought to (I doubt that.) you will desire to function in an ecosystem the place everybody feels like a civilian, yet no longer everybody is. you will desire to learn a clean way of existence. you will desire to learn the makeup of the area you patrol - who the great gamers are, who's influential, who the activity makers are. you will desire to be sharp and keen to earnings. i'm sorry guy. Get your credentials. it truly is achieveable that q4 while a clean financial year starts off they're going to recruit GEDers, if the financial gadget improves. If no longer, they gained't, because of the fact they have extra effective than sufficient volunteers with diplomas (and then some.)
