You're talking about Cake Mix Cookies. The general rule of the thumb is to simply follow the recipe, but just use ONE egg. You can make cookies using any cake mix and you can add whatever you want to it, dried fruit, nuts, oatmeal, chocolate chips, get creative with it. It's so quick and easy.

You're sure they were made, with a cake mix? I wasn't aware you make Tollhouse cookies, that way. But I'd like to try it, too.
I do have a tollhouse recipe, though. Ask me for it, by asking a question in answers, if you want it. I'll be sure to have it ready, in 3 months.

this is the closest i could find...
1 18-oz. pkg. purchased cake mix (any flavor)
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 egg
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients at low speed until dry ingredients are moistened and dough is thoroughly mixed. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 9-12 minutes. Cool two minutes on cookie sheets, then remove to wire racks to cool..
If using chocolate cake mix, add 2 Tbsp. water along with egg. You can stir in chocolate chips, coated candy pieces, chopped nuts, or oatmeal. Frost the cookies, using canned frosting, or make sandwich cookies by spreading frosting between two cookies.
