The #1 reason for snoring is being overweight. If that is the case for you, try exercising and losing a few pounds.
You are also more likely to snore lying on your back, so try sleeping your side. Some people will wear a gown or sleepshirt with a tennisball taped in the middle of the back to keep them from lying on their back while sleeping.
You should also get checked out for sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is dangerous because years of sleep apnea can lead to heart failure. The top signals of sleep apnea are
1. Feeling sleeping during the daytime
2. Waking up with a headache
3. Never having dreams
4. Catch yourself falling asleep driving or in church
If you have any of these symptoms, you could be having sleep apnea, and this problem can easily be fixed by a sleep doctor.
Taking over the counter sleep medications don't really work because you end up developing a tolerance to them and require higher and higher doses.....and they don't help snoring.
Good luck to you, and I recommend seeing a Sleep doctor or an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. Your answer could be an easy fix. Stop suffering and get it fixed.
Sincerely,
Robin

I am sorry I have to ask this, but are you overweight? And I would be curious as to how much, 5pds 10, 15pds? The reason I ask, is that I can tell when my husband has gained or lost weight depending on his snoring. He is about 6ft tall and at 120 he hardly snores. If he gets up to 125,130, or higher, I stay up all night long cause he can not stop snoring. If you are not overweight and you just snore, I would recommend those breathing strips you put over your nose, or maybe you should see a doc cause you could have sleep apnea(probably spelled wrong) Hope this helps...

Did you try breath right nose strips those work on some people. Other than that if you want you can go to the doctor and they can perscribe you medicine that will open up your sinuses so it helps with the snoring.

You should have the person checked for Sleep Apnea, a potentially serious illness. They can make mouth appliances to eliminate the snoring and help the person sleep better.
