I thought the fiscal year for the military started in October 1st. I am waiting for orders, but have to wait for the funding first - anyone privy to that info?

The fiscal year does start OCT 1st. But signing the bill authorizing the DoD funding is just a step in a long process of getting the money disbursed. The Congress had to release the funds to the various Congressional committees dealing with different authorized expenditure (weapons, payroll, recruitment, housing, medical..you get the idea.) And then, eventually the authorized funds reach the level where they are disbursed or released to the command level.

This is a quick and dirty over view.

Worked in DC after being an army officer and dealt with government contracts and their funding.

The question should be, when the military is going to release funds for the congress. Don't you guys know we are under the martial law under the disable command of Bush.
