I try to remove my ingrown toenail but the area around my toe is always dry and cracked so i can't see very well, which makes it really hard to remove it. Is there a better way to remove them? Is there something to not let an ingrown toenail grow back at all? Help!! They really hurt!!

People who get repeated ingrown toenails are normally caused because they are clipping the toenails too short and/or wearing shoes that are too tight-fitting around the toes.

As for the clipping, I recommend buying a large emery board and using the emery board to shorten the nails on the big toe especially. Make sure you file straight across and never in a half-moon shape.

Next, check out your shoes and socks and make sure they are not too constricting.

Ingrown toenails are extremely painful and can even sometimes lead to serious infections. Although it is very rare, people have been known to lose their toe because of a ingrown toenail infection got out of control.

As for curing an ingrown toenail, try pouring peroxide over the toe to kill germs. Soak the foot in warm water. Put betadine or iodine on the toe.......and try not to wear any shoes until healed.

If it doesn't resolve on it's own in a couple of days, see a doctor.

I used to get ingrown toenails a lot too, but once I started using an emery board instead of clippers, I've never had one since.

Good Luck!

a podirest will be able to fix it so they don't grow back.An injection to numb the toe and a special moterized file to go down to the nail root and a couple of weeks keeping the toe covered. most are caused by improper clipping or wrong type of foot wear thats not leting the nail to grow out properly.

you can go to a doctor who can do a partial removal of the nail, it grows from the nail bed and next time onwards you cut them a little later than usual, good luck
