I have seen several postings on here recently which claim Aids is caused by Homosexuality. On what basis are these claims substantiated? Is this just religious spin on a subject that some religious people know nothing about?

I have studied the AIDS virus in A-Level biology, and it is more easily spread through gay sex than heterosexual sex. For the reasons described earlier, the lining of a woman's vagina is thicker than that lining of the anus, therefore offering greater protection against transmission of blood. So it is therefore easier for those who engage in gay sex to catch the virus. Promiscuous homosexual lifestyles also result in the virus being spread like wildfire. It is safe to say that AIDS is spread by homosexual sex, although it is also spread by needle sharing, and by heterosexual sex.

I do not believe for one minute that AIDS is some kind of punishment by God on homosexuals for their lifestyle. That it is self inflicted I have no doubt, but I have a relationship with God and I love him. As I have grown to know him, I have grown to know his heart more and more, which, as I have recently seen, is a heart that breaks for people involved in homosexual sin. I have no doubt that homosexual practises are an abomination to God, but Jesus loves homosexuals, and has compassion for those who struggle with homosexual tendencies. Homosexual promiscuity brings much heartache and loneliness and he loves them, and longs to heal them.

Homosexuals are no different to anyone else really. We all need Jesus, and he loves us all and longs to heal us. A homosexual lifestyle is just a symptom of sin, but we have all sinned, whether it be a rampant queer, or the prim and proper old lady in the pew at church, we have all fallen short and we all need to be forgiven by God. Nobody is better than anyone else, we all need forgiveness and to receive God's love, grace and healing. Jesus blood was shed for everybody. Christians who think they are better than homosexuals should care to remember that they too have been saved by God's grace. Everyone can be saved, even homosexuals, and believe me, I am positive there will be forgiven homosexuals in heaven. No one is so bad they cannot come to God and receive his forgiveness. All of us need God, we all need him to rescue us, whether we are homosexual, heterosexual, drug users, alcoholics, teetotal, white, black, educated, uneducated, without him we are all like the jumblies who set to sea in a sieve. (Except for the green heads and blue hands.) We all need God to pull us out of the sieve and into his boat. (That's my analogy anyway.)

even if people now know AIDS is not only caused by homosexuality, people still look down on homosexuals. The truth is nobody cares about the victims of AIDS who are actually loved by God.It's all a sign from God and the question whether AIDS resulted from homosexuality is currently controversial because the recent debates about religion have influenced us and threatened to shaken our faith in God's will over everything bad that has happened. The real question is:what have we learned from them? Can we become better people and learn from our mistakes - this is the real challenge. But most people don't learn anything and assume they're above others when they have never even suffered or been victims of sickness and terrible illnesses such as AIDS,all they care about is winning.God sets us a battle to live, but the battle is not about winning or losing, it's about how much we compassion we learn and how much love we share, with the homosexuals, the AIDS victims or with other less-fortunate people.

It's spin born of ignorance and a willingness to distort the truth to make their beliefs appear justified. Some religious people seem to be in their own world, completely detached from reality. I'm sorry to have to write that, but it really does seem to be true sometimes.

HIV is a virus, not an avenging angel. Homosexuality didn't cause it or AIDS, neither did heterosexual promiscuity, but it is transmitted by bodily fluids, which come into play during sexual intercourse.

To suggest that AIDS is caused by homosexuality is now an out of date proposition. It's been shown that it's nothing of the sort.
The problem lies in the fact that the easiest methods of transmitting the disease are needle sharing (completely non-sexual - unless you're really weird) and anal sex.
So, since most hetero couples who practice anal sex are relatively faithful couples (ie. married or living together) but the majority of homos are by nature, promiscuous, it remains the most common (sexual) method of becoming infected.
The religious angle is simply that since they describe homosexuality as an abomination, it's a great idea to suggest that the punishment is AIDS. The feeling is that it might discourage potential queers. It also leaves an opening for the suggestion that since god inflicted this disease on you for your behaviour, we (the church and "respectable" society) don't need to worry about curing it. In fact, to cure it would defeat god's purpose.

BtW, perhaps Esther should consider that if it is indeed god's punishment for homos, why did it take him nearly 2000 years to implement it? he must have missed a hell of a lot of rampant queers.

A_Geologist,
I really don't think that they typically say that it was caused by the Homosexual Community. I find that most think that it was spread by them the most effectively, not in so many words.

I have heard Atheists that were not Homosexual say the same thing. So I wouldn't just blame Christians.

I believe that it was spread by sexual contact for the most part. Since it is communicable that way, and I believe that there are a lot more people doing it that way than by other means, i.e. sharing needles, and such things.

I'd go with the 'know nothing about' option.

Actually, it's slightly easier to spread AIDS through homosexual (male) sex than it is through conventional heterosexual sex. However, it still spreads fast either way. It's killing gay and straight people alike, and likely will be for many years since the religious right in this country is preventing much research from being done on the idea that it will eventually kill off everyone they don't like.

On what basis? On the basis of what they hear in church and are not allowed to argue. On that basis. If they opened a little their eyes, they'd know that by now, it's obvious that aids can be caught by ANY sexual relationship (even a heterosexual relationship with your legal spouse), or by other means not involving sex at all. But that's not what some people hear in mass, you see...

With all due recognize to the author of this question, every person who's concentrated on information what faith rather is would see the hollowness of this way of question... Why no longer in basic terms ask "do you think of all of us is a ailment on earth?" it isn't the religion or non secular ideals that reason issues for persons, for if human beings stay by their non secular values, ethics and ideology, there would be alot extra compassion, and much less lack of understanding, hatred and arrogance in the international on the instant. a lot of human beings, such as lots of the respondants to this question, look to overlook that human weaknesses are on the middle of the subject being offered in this question. If human beings would be extra information, extra considerate of others and much less judgmental in labelling others around them (this consists of mindless communicate), then none of those matters would upward thrust up. in case you p.c. to alter the international to alter right into an enhanced place, do it your self, and notice in case you could act as sturdy as you're saying. that's what human beings overlook correct to the main religions of the international... They save on with the occasion of people who've replaced the international and motivate human beings to stay extra beneficial lives, rather than do no longer something and ***** approximately it.

Anal intercourse is a very aggressive friction that causes the thin membrane wall to produce bleeding. Aids is a blood disease. The reproductive system of a woman's birthing tube is thicker and can handle vigorous thrusting.

You should know that aids came about because of man having sex with animals. You should also know that men with men and women with women are not only a sin against God but also a sin against nature. Anytime man goes against nature bad things happen. Romans 1: 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Romans 1: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 1: 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1: 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
