Kind of like two kids fighting over who has the best imaginary friend

It's incredibly funny.........until religious zealots try to dictate how people of differing or no faith should live, until they feed their vile, hateful, bigoted filth to their children, until they start killing people over "who knows God better".

Then it's not so funny.

I don't know if it's ironic. A conclusion exactly opposite to that which is expected is a prerequisite for irony. History shows us time and time again the kind of evil religion based conflict can bring. Because it's expected, it's not ironic.

Maybe hypocritical is the word you're looking for.

Just Cal,
"Is it funny when religious people fight about their religion being better than another?"
It might seem like that some are trying to prove one better than another. But at the heart of it, I think, is the attempt to express truth.

"Is that what Jesus would want?"
He would want us to live in His word. To listen to Him, according to His will. And He had arguements with others about religion too. And we can guess who was right, and who was wrong.

In case someone reads this and doesn't know the answer; Jesus is always right.

No, it's sad. I don't think too highly of religion. I'm a Christian, and studying the Bible, I think religion is mentioned maybe 2 or 3 times- and even then it's not spoken very highly of.

that is not what Jesus would want. I know that non-believers and atheists find it funny, it gives them a very good reason to not believe. Would you want to believe in a GOD where all of His believers just fight, lie and backstab?

I don't think it's funny I think Christians in general need to grow up and walk how Christ wants them to walk.

It's not funny. Rather it is sad, and counter to anything God wanted in the first place as he asked for tolerance and judge not lest ye be judged.

Religious people made up the whole Jesus myth, so I guess they can say he wants whatever they want him to want.

Christ allows us to go to war for Him, in His honor, in His name and for His sake. There were wars in heaven with the angels. Yes war is a bad thing so do not enter for all of the wrong reasons.
