If you go to school you should be able to keep the ticket off your driving record. You may also see if your county offers deffered judification, I listed an article below that might be very helpful to you about your speeding ticket.

Go to the school. Those points can add up if there is a second incident.
You did not say what stage this is. If you just got the ticket and there is still time to appeal you should. I always tell people to take the case to court or a hearing. In many places the cop does not show up and it is dismissed and at times the court will give you a break just for showing up and having a good story. However, ususally you only have something like seven days to send in to contest the ticket--so this may have passed in your case.

Depending on which state you are in... if you pay the fine and attend the school, the conviction will not be entered onto your driving record. Your insurance Company won't find out that you screwed up... and they would have no reason then to jack up your insurance rate. Word of caution!!..... Many states will not allow you to take this option more than once in a one year period.........so slow down!

My honest advice is to go to school; I don't know what state you're in, but normally by taking the class (which is not hard by the way), you'll keep the moving violation off your record, which means that your insurance company will know nothing of it, saving you $$$ in rates. And yes, they could jack your rates for one ticket, especially if you're under 25. Take the class. Trust me on this one.

If you pay the fine, the case is closed. There is no need to go to court, and you certainly don't need to ask to go to traffic school

You pay the fine no matter what! School is of your own choosing and yes, it will reduce points in most states. Personally, I would plead not guilty to which the arresting officer will more than likely reduce the charge to a non moving violation to avoid a trial! Just a bit of information passed on to you from experience!

Pay the fine, AND then go to online traffic school to get the points taken off your record. Remember, you can only do that so many times so slow down, live longer and prosper

Let me get this straight. You have to pay $X whether you go to school or not. If you go to school, then you get no points. More points = higher insurance. If you aren't issued any points, then there are no points on your license and I think it means your clear as far as your insurance goes if you don't blab to them that you were cited. Definitely, unless you'll lose your job to take that class, take the class. It would be crazy not to.

Go to school! Because you will get a certificate saying that you took the course, and you'll be able to turn that certificate over to your insurance company and you will save 10 percent off your car insurance for the next three years!!
