I found her on my front lawn a few days ago and had her checked out by the vet; she's fine, but I've never had a cat before and I'm concerned that she's underweight and if I should be feeding her a little bit more to help her catch up. Right now she weighs 1 lb 2 oz.

That is a good weight for a 5 week kitten. Just feed her good quality kitten food. Don't overfeed her. I recommend Iams kitten food. Microwave it for 15-30 seconds.

That's right on the money if she's 5 weeks.

On average, it's about a pound a month for kittens.

Don't TRY to 'fatten her up'....the weight will come naturally. If her weight were a concern, your DVM would have addressed it. What is a healthy weight from a medical standpoint often looks too thin to the public, b/c they're so used to overweight and obese cats.

Congrats on your new furbaby! If you've never had a cat before, you're in for a real treat. :-)

Kitten should weigh about 2-4 oz at birth. After that they should gain about 4 oz per week.

if its only 5 weeks old it shouldnt weigh any more than 1 lb. if it is sickly looking check it for worms as it may not be getting the nutrients it needs as it has the parisite living inside it.

About 4-6oz.

Feed it well and keep it warm.
Check it for worms.
