Has she eaten anything since she has been constipated? If she hasn't eaten, she won't have any feces built up and won't defecate. If she has been eating and not defecating, you need to take her to the vet ASAP, especially if its been going on for 5 days. Did she eat anything strange right before you noticed her get sick? If she ate something she wasn't supposed to she could have a intestinal blockage. Your vet will need to do some x-rays to determine if that's what it is. I have seen dogs that have eaten numerous things that blocked them up (a child's sock, a black walnut, a corn cob, just to name a few). Another possibility would be if she injured her hips or spinal cord recently. She won't be able to push the feces out because of the injury and because it hurts, so she will hold it in. The vet can give her an enema if she is just constipated and start her on a stool soften.

I would take her to the vet ASAP!!! Good luck and I hope its nothing too serious!

I love Labs.
They are such a wonderful breed.
Unfortunately, they do not live as long as some breeds.
Could be old age or blockage.
I had one dog, the vet had me give her canned dog food, soaked in milk and I hand fed this dog 3 times a day for a few days.
He thought she had Provo. I knew she had killed and ate chickens.
Well after a few days, I had a sore, but live dog and a yard full of piles of poo with feathers attached.
The vet came by the house because he thought she would be dead. He gave me an apology later.
Try the canned dog food and milk, it may help if she has a blockage, if not, take her to the vet and pray.

Hi

You need to have her seen by the VET ASAP.

It is very likely that she has a blockage in her intestines either from bowel, infection or something foriegn she ate.

Toxins will build up in her system if it is not corrected and she will die.

Its good she is drinking... But really
Do not give her anything like Metamucil or feed her any more food of any kind,,, and take her to the VET.

DO it now before its a weekend and it will cost more and be harder to get in to one!

Good Luck

If she has not eaten for a few days then she has no stool to produce. I would take her to the vet to make sure she does not have a blockage .

Take her to the vet. Retrievers are prone to chewing things they shouldn't, and she could've swallowed a fragment of one of the things she chewed. I'll pray for yer dog, as retrievers are near and dear to me.
