For the last few weeks, i've noticed that I have been urinating around 10-12 times a day. I do drink glasses of water every other hour or so. When I go, I usually urinate alot at a time. I know I had a physical and chemical examination about 5 months ago and nothing showed up wrong. I do not have any other symptoms of anything other than urinating alot. What could be the problem? Should I get it checked out?

I do urinate a normal amount every time. I know its not an std. It is not a sudden urge, just that I am urinating a lot throughout the day. I hardly ever get up at night from it though. It was a while ago when I got my blood checked, but I know that my glucose levels were normal. I am 24 years old.

Yes you probly should. Unless you are just drinking way too many liquids. Frequent urination usually means something is wrong. Diabetes and infection are the most common things that can cause excessive urination. There are two kinds of diabetes – diabetes mellitus (sugar appears in the urine) and diabetes insipidus (your body can’t concentrate urine). With diabetes mellitus, adolescents usually also lose weight despite eating more. With diabetes insipidus the only other symptom is excessive thirst. Frequent urination also can be a symptom of an infection, either in your kidneys or the tube in your penis (urethritis). Usually an infection also causes pain or discomfort with urination. Urethritis typically only happens if you have caught a sexually transmitted disease. Since you bought pads for men, I assume that you sometimes urinate when you don’t want to. Are you sure it’s urine? Sometimes the discharge of chlamydia (a common STD) may look like urine. I hope you will go back to your doctor and carefully explain the symptoms you are having. You need further medical evaluation.

Urinating Often

You may be developing diabetes or maybe just drinking a LOT of water.

If you suspect you might be a diabetic, get it checked out. When a person's blood sugar is too high, the kidneys try to get rid of the sugar in the urine.

If it's not blood sugar, you may be just drinking a lot of water. It's good to drink lots of water because it keeps you well hydrated and cleanses the impurities from your body.

When you urinate each time, is it a small amount or regular amount? If you feel the urge often but only go a small amount, that would be a signal of a urinary tract infection......but if you are going a regular amount, that's probably not it.

You just may have a small bladder.......or a sensitive bladder.

Some people actually can train their bladders to hold more urine before they feel the urge. It does take a little time and planning though. Start by going to the bathroom and writing down the time. Then, write down the time you go next.......then, figure out how long it was between the first and second trip and try to hold it an additional 30 minutes before you again next time. Keep adding 30 minutes until you get down to the normal 7-8 times per day that the normal person goes......that's called bladder training.

Most people also stop drinking liquids 2-3 hours before bedtime in order to keep from having to get up so much during the night for bathroom trips.

So, in recap, here are the possibilites
1. High blood sugar
2. High intake of water
3. Possible urinary tract infection
4. Need to retrain bladder to hold more before signaling urge

Good luck to you!

The only things that I can think of would be diabetes (which increases desire to drink water and therefore the amount that you urinate) or a UTI. You should go to a doctor even though you just went to one a few months ago.

If it's noticeable, it's worth getting checked out. It could be an early sign of diabetes or prostate problems.
