What if he was a happy drunk, and only drank at night, and he was reponsible and had a good job, and he treated you like a princess, and did everything you asked of him?

That's pretty much my description.

Well first of all if you think you are an alcoholic that's not a good thing. If you continue drinking so much, you will start to change because your brain will slowly deteriorate, also you can cause harm to certain body parts.
I don't think there is nothing wrong with going out and having a few drinks or getting drunk once in awhile, but I couldn't handle it if it was everyday.

I have done that and he was all of the above but it became tiring. Honeymoon periods are great but all things come to an end. I think you deserve much better don't sell yourself short you should always be treated like a princess enjoy the ride if you must for the moment but don't count on happy ever after!!!!

There's no debate--absolutely do not date this guy. He may seem 'happy' and treat you well, but it's part of the disease. He isn't seeing the world clearly and his reactions are going to be off the mark.

When he drinks at night, is he alone or with others? Are you included?

Alcoholism IS a problem. You don't wany anything to do with him until he's clean and dedicated to staying that way.

Alright if they drink every single night then no because eventually the nice drunk will go away and become not so nice to anybody at all then you will not get anything off of it because your used to it so u drink more and more, even though you are a great guy its just my brother and my father were alcoholics and i learned same as many of my friends it never turns out as great as you think if your an every day drinker....thats my opinion so no would be my anwser

Are you sure he is an alcoholic??
There is social drinking, then there are "alcoholics"..Meaning they can NOT stop at one or two drinks. I've never heard of a "happy alcoholic", they normally get so wasted that they pass out or don't remember things that happened and it's on a regular basis.

If he was truly an alcoholic, my answer would be no, I would not.

I married one of those and over time, he turned for the worse. Alcohol really catches up with people over a period of time and things do change. My father drank heavily when I was younger and it was a living nightmare. Guess you won't really know if this guy is going to turn out like that unless you spend more time with him. I just hope that it isn't too late for you should he become more irresponsible with his habit.

I was married to an happy drunk also. But those highs don't last & they eventually come down & really hard, with very bad mood swings. The alcohol ended up killing him.
As long as he drinks it wont get better..it will be down hill.

No.
He will never love you more then the alcohol (or drugs, or whatever).
It is what it is. You can't change the fact that you're an alkie just because you 'only drink at night, only a happy drunk....etc"
Don't you worry about what it's doing to your body?

Nope, my father was an alcoholic. There is nothing happy about someone who drinks their paycheck away and the repo men coming to your home to take away all of your furniture, the car, even Christmas gifts.
