can i get contacts instead of reading glasses

Well thats a good question for the eye doctor. But yes, you can get bifocal contact lenses that have just a reading segment. Many people find this more convenient and attractive than wearing reading glasses.

Nope. Contact lenses are for more advanced visual disorder. Reading glasses are intended for close-range (reading distance like books) visual aid. I had my first reading glass when I had to squint reading the newspapers.
