I lived in the same city that I worked in as a Police Officer. I even worked in the ghetto with some of the people that were considered the worst of the worst. If I saw one of those people at the store we usually exchanged pleasantries and went on or way. I never knew any a gang member to take it personally. in fact me and one of the biggest gang leaders and I used to joke about how we were providing each other job security. It was business to us. I never had an unlisted phone number

A friend from school worked for a state agency. He was shot with a machine gun while serving a warrant to a pot grower; minor stuff. Badass inner city gang leaders are conducting business rednecks think they can shoot their way out of anything.

I was born in Texas, raised in SE and Central Oklahoma so I am allowed to point out characteristics of my own group

Many areas require officers to live within a certain distance to the department. The official reason is usually so they can report quickly in an emergency.
