not a sin, but a poor choice.

The only sin that can occur when watching a horror movie is in the heart since they are not mentioned in the Bible. It's just like everything else like rock music or television shows. If the form of entertainment glorifies sin and in your heart you are enjoying a sinful fantasy then it's like looking at a woman with lust in your heart because you have a sinful attitude.

If you are watching a horror movie hoping for the bad guys to lose and not delighting in violence done to people that's no problem. But if you are like some people I've seen who get a rush from gory killings you might want to take it to the Lord in prayer.

I wouldn't say it's a sin, but in the most extreme it isn't healthy. The sin part comes in if you watch them so much you want to do something that is suggested in the movie, or start believing a worldview or philosophy that the movie preaches. Most people however know it's just make believe.

But

Let's say you watch a horror movie where you see authentic anti-Christian worship or beliefs....If you became obsessed with it, it could lead you to sin, in other ways...

I don't know about being a sin, but they do , however represent evil....and you say your belief is Chrisitanity? Just exactly what are you asking? Do you mean that you were brought up in a Christian home or that you are a child of God by being born again through the precious Blood of our Savior.... Christ Jesus...Unless you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior...then the term Christianity means exactly nothing...It is not a lable placed on us...It is a belief in Christ...That He died for our sins and was resurrected and now sits on the right hand of God in Heaven...It is an acceptance of Him and all that He did for us...It is repentance and asking forgiveness for your past sins..It is a public confession that He is your personal Savior...And a deep desire to keep His commandments...And movies are like ficticious books.... a figment of the writers imagination...and Oh By the Way if you do decide to follow Christ...Read the book of Romans....It will guide you all the way...with the help of the Holy Spirit...and I wish to be the first to accept you into our family....The Family Of God....

The problem with movies is, a lot of them are false (most of them). Based on false premises. For example, an imaginary person is having an imaginary problem, so who do they turn to for help? A real god? And even though we claim not to be affected, isn't it amazing how much of our lives we spend thinking about movies, and trying to look and act like the imaginary characters in them. That's what's Really scary.

I understand why people want to escape from the horrors of real life into fantasy horrors. Well, here's a challenge: Read the crucifixion story. Now there's a horror story! (and, yes, I think people can overdo on that, too!)

I don't think so. I am a Christian and I enjoy watching horror movies. I enjoy watching a variety of things on television and enjoy reading a variety of books and listening to all different kinds of music. I think that if you have a strong head on your shoulders and you do not let it affect you then you will be ok. But, I also like the persons answer that said listen to God and see what He tells you about it. If you feel in your heart that God does not want you to watch these then you should do what you feel He is telling you. Everyone one is different and therefore everyones walk with God is different. And different things affect different people in different ways.

well the thing is there is horror in the bible, for example, God destroyed Sodom and Gommorah he reigned fire on them and burned them alive, in Revelaiton God killed milllions of soldiers in the battle of armageddon and then told the vultures to eat their dead rotting flesh, so that would be horrorsome, but God never wanted this for people, people chose this themselves by sinnning, i believe that horror is not a sin as long as its taken in the right context, it might help certain people understand that sin is real and watching a movie like that will help them be separate from the world more.

Sin is whatever you'd like it to be.

This may sound silly, but it's true.

Originally, an ice cream soda tasted too good so it was considered a sin to eat on Sunday.
One shoppe removed the soda from it...leaving the ice cream and syrup and named it a sundae.

So if you think it's a sin to watch Adam Sandler movies....for you, it would be.

I am a servant of The LORD and no it's not and it's not going to send you to Hell. Personally I like a good horror flick, I use to own a dozen of them. Then one night the Lord impressed me to get rid of them, so I did. If you sincerely seek the Lord He'll show you what He wants you to do. Unless you've felt convicted by it don't worry about it. Don't let other peoples convictions be your own. The Holy Spirit will work in your life if your faith is properly in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Sin is the rejection of Jesus Christ and His finished work at Calvary

I think you should take that question to God in prayer....and listen for His answer. Also, if you are a born again Christian, you have the spirit of God living in you. When you watch a movie like that...what happens? Do you feel God trying to speak to you about something? Only you can answer that question.

That depends on your beliefs. If you feel it is a sin, then, yes, it is a sin for YOU to see them. Clearly though, they are not a sin for the ones that act in, make, market, and view them.
