Im interested to know if anyone had a birthday recently, and/or felt slighted by nearby holidays (ie. Christmas eve, July 3rd or 4th, September 10-12th).

I have come to understand that Birthdays were my parent's way of CELEBRATING ME in their life and in our family.
I am much older now, and they are gone to heaven, and none of the younger members of my family remember mine, my husband of 22 years did not make a big deal over me, so I have just come to believe that in my early years I WAS special to my folks.
I am here for a REASON, and so I have learned to celebrate MYSELF when the time comes.
Even if no one else remembers or cares.
That is how I overcome the depressing thoughts that surround it.\
If YOU make yourself a birthday cake, then YOU get to eat it all!!!

My nephews birthday is the day after Christmas and he always gets slighted because of it. His parents usually never buy him anything which I feel is wrong.

My fathers birthday is January 2 and he has the same problem. Everyone is still broke from Christmas so he also gets slighted.

Birthdays should be remembered. If you have to write them in a book do so, so that you do not forget the persons birthday and make them feel bad. Even if you get a card for your birthday at least someone remembered thus you will not be depressed. Good Luck

My birthday has been overshadowed by christmas for my entire life so I don't place much importance on people remembering my birthday. The Christmas Rush is the usual excuse for forgetting. It used to bother me, but not anymore.

I have spent 2 of my birthdays in a mental hospital. I just think birthdays signify time gone and the question of what has been accomplished or not accomplished.
