I have had my beagle for three years and I love him so much. The problem is we are moving to a smaller house with no yard and they dont accept animals. I am so sad thinking I have to get rid of my dog but there is nothing else I can do. This is killing me. Is there anything else I can do. I wish there was somewere I could keep him for 2yrs till we move into a bigger home. No one in my family has room to hold him. Please help!

Excuse me DC but I do not need your ridicule. You have no idea what situation I am in. My grandmother is very sick and I have no choice but to go take care of her. You do not know me or how much I love my dog and I defenitly dont need you telling me what to do in the future. People come on her for advice and not to be repremanded.

Angela- Thank you I will defenitly look into that. We are only going to be there for about 2yrs because then my uncle will be moving into my grandmothers house for good. We are going to save money in the meantime to be able to own a home after that.

Thank you for MOST of the kind words and advice. I have decided to take more control of the situation and tell my grandmother that it is really important to me and that I really need to bring my dog because he is part of my family. I am hoping she will be able to be convinced. I will keep everyone updated on what she has said. Please pray for me and my doggy!

Gee, if someone offered to move in and take care of me while I was ill, I wouldn't care if they had a giraffe! I'd let them bring any pets they had! You're very kind to make such a sacrifice. If you can't find a foster care program for your little friend, check with local vets. They might know of someone who'll take good care of him until your uncle takes over with Grandma, perhaps someone else with beagles or someone who recently lost one and would appreciate the company. Good luck, I hope everything works out for you!

This is part of owning a pet - responsibility. Once that animal bonds to you, you are responsible for it.
Your new home won't take pets, hmm? Try looking somewhere else. Yeah, you may have to pay a little more, you may have to pay a pet fee on top of your deposit. But pets are not disposable.
And it is totally not fair to ask someone to take care of him for two years, and then demand they give him back. He will bond to this new family, then you would uproot him?
My dear, you do not need a dog. You need stuffed animals until you understand what sort of commitment living creatures require. I have dogs - and I have walked away from homes because they said 'no dogs'. (Much to the annoyance of realtors - tuff. My dogs come first.)
If you absolutely must find a new home for your dog, try a rescue outfit first - and then stop a consider very carefully before you get anothe dog in the future.

I would have someone dog sit for a few weeks, then move in, then bring my dog back :). Have you looked for smaller houses that have a small yard? or allow pets? Sorry, I just don't think I could ever get rid of my dogs.. no matter what... but you didn't talk about your circumstance.. have you thought about all options??

I am sorry about your situation, have you tried to find out if where you live they might have pet foster care ? Contact the Humane Society, ASPCA or PETA, or one of the local animal shelters. I cannot & don't want to imagine how you must feel. Why is it for 2 yrs. if I may ask ? Also try to contact several vets in your area they might be able to find another of their clients who is may willing to keep your dog as long as you take care of the food & other expenses what may occur. You should realy try that & I wish you the very best of luck

I know it's painful, but the same thing happened to me except mines was with me for 9 years. Yes, it was hard to let go, I loved her soooo much. But I gave her to my aunt and I sleep over their every summer and weekends. Now, you can always talk to the landlord, or get a really responsible friend or relative that willing to take care of your dog. Make sure you give them what you use and what's the dog's needs. I hope I helped.

Try a beagle rescue. There may be someone who could foster him. But I would search for a home that would let me keep my dog.

How about your parent(s) house, friends house? I am sure there is someone that would like to foster him for the time you can't mind him.
Otherwise I don't think there is much else you can do.

talk to the loanlord, tell him that if there are any thing that the dog messes up, you will pay for it to get it fixed/cleaned, at the end of the month, prove the landlord that you did what you told him,
EVERYTHING CAN GET HANDLED BY COMMUNICATION!
