first off BIG HUGS it takes courage to ask for help in a place like this...a few of the answers i agree with like the fact you may need a new church...and that you can not always be blown away by a message and that a bible study should not give the preacher another chance to just rattle off a sermon but a chance for all to bring something to the table...I'm praying for you and your church for not as many are on fire for God like they should be...but please keep the faith(even on the darkest days....remember you cant talk to God about how you feel...and He would love to hear it... He loves an honest heart..even if your mad at Him)

Believing in God is not a feeling. Don't expect to get a fuzzy feeling, every time you go to church. The minute you believed in Jesus Christ dieing on a cross for you; you were filled with the Holy Spirit. It sounds to me, like maybe you really aren't sure if you believe or not. The silly feeling, or the pastor telling lies. Do you believe that the Bible is true? Do you believe in Creation? Tell me about your home life. Do you pray? Do you read your Bible? If you do read your Bible, how often? Every day, every week, every month? Do you memorize verses? Do you go to Church with someone or alone?
You are so far away from God! The way to get closer to Him is by examining your heart. Find out why you are going to Church in the first place. Talk to God, He answers you know. Do you believe that He answers prayer? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Tell Him how you feel, and tell Him you want to change (if you do). Lastly, do you believe you are saved and if not, do you believe in hell or eternal salvation in heaven.
If you really want help, try answering these questions. You didn't say which Church you go to but the Pastor may be able to help you too. Sometimes, God wants us to move. Ask God to reveal what He wants you to do. Maybe you need a different Church.
I prayed for you just now! God Bless your search.

Try a few different Bible studies out with a different church. Maybe you just need a change. They could be touching too superficially for you and your ready for a deeper relationship with the Lord. Not every time I'm blown away with what the meeting will be on. Some days I am. If your at a bible study make sure you are able to ask questions at it and not just have to sit there. We all need to function in the body.

Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within us. This means that he can not be found on a far off cloud called heaven, or in a building called a church.
He can only be found where Jesus said he would be.
This is why you are feeling nothing. There is nothing to feel but a lie.
Religion is a lie that people tell about God.
If you want to be close to God then I suggest that you get a book called the course in miracles. It can bring you far closer to God that Religion ever could.
Love and blessings Don

What you are experiencing is the same thing you felt once you learned that Santa Claus and the tooth fairy are mythology. You recognize the same patterns in the way religious faith is presented and you are asking yourself "why do people believe?" Well, the bottom line is, they believe because they're terrified not to! The idea that when one dies, there is nothing more is too much for most folks to handle. That's why, when you point out that there is a passage in the Bible that says there's no life after death, people will adamantly refuse to open their own Bibles and look it up, instead denying the existance of said passage. If you open a Bible to that passage and offer it to them to read for themselves, they will look away, or even knock the Bible away! You probably can't change them, so your task is to look after your own spiritual wellbeing and look outside of church for meaning and purpose.

You feel nothing because there is nothing to feel.
It feels silly because the people that do it look retarded half the time and are usually so desperate for aide to legitimate pain that they will do anything a man in a nice suit holding a bible says for them to do, or feel.
You're best bet, if you are seeking some sort of spirituality, is to find a religion that suits YOU, not the other way around.

It could be one of two things. Either the Spirit isn't present in the church or He isn't present in you. It could be that you are going to a "dead" church like the one in Sardis...
Revelation 3:1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: 'The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. "'I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
Or it could be that you have never been born again and so the Holy Spirit isn't moving in you.
Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, being dead in transgressions and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Since I don't know you or what church you attend I can only take my best guess. Why don't you pray about it?

Are you born again? if yes, then find a church that teaches God's word, and get plugged in. If no, then find a person that you know beyond a doubt that is a real on fire God fearing Christian and get them to help. You need to be able to trust this person.

your looking for answers from church and you should be looking for them from God Himself. Church is there to guide and teach not to replace God. Spend more personal time one on one with God and go to church not looking for feelings but for learning. You will know if its lies if it doesn't line up with the word. YOur job is to know your bible and verify everything your being taught is in there. Its believers who don't read their word and spend time with God that get decieved by religious people who are false

Follow your own heart, wherever it leads you and trust yourself to find the truth that you seek, even if it means giving up what you think you are supposed to believe. Don't waste your life living a personal lie in order to keep up an image or please someone else. Only you know what's right fot you. Obviously you have a caring heart or you wouldn't be concerned. Trust your own heart.
