In other words, if someone put a gun to your head and told you to renounce Jesus or die, what would you do?I know it's an extreme hypothetical question, but it's worth pondering if you're a christian.

I could not renounce Jesus. Fact is that if faith is real then by faith you know assured as to where you will be. Many have die for the name of Jesus and if there wasn't something to this Jesus why would so many die just for the name?

Truth is there is no fear fo death because to those who believe it is the way to life.

I would say that I have stood before some of the badest of the bad with my faith. I have stood in the presents of 1% biker and tood frim in my faith, all the way to being in from of Hells Angels.

For me its not the fear of dying but the fear of living and not being faithful to belief that I claim. Which is really harder to face?

I guess I would be dead because I am not renouncing Jesus as my Saviour. Now the amazing miracle would be if the gun jammed. Then, I know for a fact Christ has spared my life to continue living for Him.

Many did renounce him and many would today I'm afraid. The only people I know that readily would die for their beliefs is the Muslims. Because of mans fear of dying he would say just about any thing to any body to save his life. I don't believe that people are that patriotic towards Jesus or God.

I don't know as it hasn't happened to me...a gun to the head maybe I wouldn't renounce anything because the death would be instantaneous, but if perhaps my imminent death were expected to be pain-full, then I'd probably renounce anything!...after all, Jesus forgives us our weaknesses, right?

I had to look up renounce but that is one tough one. I don't know what I would do. They did some of that at Columbine. Wow, its too hard to even think about. you wouldn't have to renounce Him, you just need to say or act like you do. But that may be kind of similar, would it be denying him in front of other people, or would it say that you wouldn't die for him. I can't say.

I renounced Christianity 4 years ago but not the Prophet Jesus/Isa (pbuh).

No gun was needed. The murder of my grandparents by my Christian mother, aunts and uncles was enough for me to renounce that religion.

nuf sed.

Peace.

Reb what do you think happened to the apostles, some were tortured for His sake, I will not bow down to statues or men, I will never denounce my Lord. For he died for me at cavalry, for all of us.

Peter said this very thing to Jesus himself the night before Jesus was crucified and Jesus informed him that he would denounce him three times before the rooster crowed, Peter was one of his most devout follower, he promised Jesus he would not and he did and when the rooster crowed he remembered Jesus' words and wept miserably.

Do you think Jesus doesn't know how hard it is to want to do the right thing and how we are torn because of our fleshy bodies, that its needs sometimes overpower what we know is right and just, and then we cry because we didn't mean to be cruel, or yell or whatever. And some of us even try to right the wrong we did, if we were taught to do so.

It is called repentance, if we repent we have not lost our souls, it is those who stand fast in defiance with no repentance in their eyes or heart that are the lost ones.

Way to steal my questions. >=( Only mine was open to everyone and had a much more well-defined situation.

Uh. I would gladly renounce Jesus, because I don't believe in him in the first place.

No, I would not. After everything He went through for me, being killed would seem small in comparison. And after all, "We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." -2 Corinthians 5:8
