Check with a neurologist. I am a 10 year sufferer with constant migraines, about 40 years total sporadically. The severe ones started when I was perimenopausal and I was assured that they would get better when I was postmenopausal. Not so much!
What finally worked for me was two-fold. I was on a daily medication of 500 mg. depakote and 50 mg topamax. The doctor said this SHOULD NOT WORK -- cocktails like that don't usually for migraines. But the depakote alone was no longer working for me and I could not tolerate the topamax and it was not working.
Turns out that cocktail worked JUST FINE for me, for about 1 year. Then, we discovered (by pure accident!!) that many, if not most, of my migraines were no longer coming from my hormones, as they had been before. It seems I had developed a severe reaction to sulfites and phosphates that I'd never had before or even known about! The surprise was WHERE I was getting them from -- the salad bars at restaurants, salads at fast food places, chicken -- both fresh (check the labels to be sure!!) and from fast food places, fresh pork (again, check the labels), balsamic vinegar, most salad dressings, etc. etc.
Since we began scrupulously watching my diet, my migraines are down to about 1 every 6 weeks -- TOTALLY tolerable with Axert to knock it out!! One tablet does the job. It means a little extra work picking out food and watching what I eat when I go out, but it it SO worth it.
Anyway, maybe this information may be of some help to you. I know that being on pills a lot is a trouble -- it was for me. But I found my answer, it seems. Hopefully, you will be able to find yours. Good luck!

Migraines are really tough to deal with and not much, except some powerful medication, can relieve it. However, there are a few ways to relieve the pain. Try using this method, it is a chinese pressure point tactic. Use the index finger and thumb of one hand and grab the muscle between the index finger and thumb of your other hand. Squeeze hard until it hurts and then back off just slightly. Hold this and watch (feel) the pain drain from your face. This method works much better if you can have someone else do it for you.
Hope your pain goes away.

Migraines are caused by tight neck muscles. They go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull the head muscles into pain and that's your migraine. It's also the reason why you can have the pain on only one side, only the neck muscles are tight on that side. If you are having trouble with your eyes it's because the nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head passing next to the neck muscles. When tight the muscles can press into the nerves to cause pains on the backs of your eyes. More pressure will cause the pupils to dilate to make you sensitive to light or make things blurry. To get rid of the pains you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that: Neck Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After about 30 to 45 seconds, when you don’t feel the muscles releasing any longer, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. as the muscles will be very tight repeat this. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

I get migraines periodically and none of the relaxing, pressure point therapies, going into a dark room or regular over the counter medication will touch them. Drugs are the answer. Maxalt 10mg works for mine. It takes the headache away in 1 to 2 hours and it works for 24 hours. Usually by that time you are beyond having one and then I usually don't get another one for at least a week and sometimes a few months will go by. Ask your doctor to give you a prescription for that. It works great and does not give you any drowsiness, sleeplessness or anything.

Some migraine sufferers have a deficiency of magnesium. Its easy to find at your local health-food store.

really hard pressure to the base of the neck at your spine for about 3-5 seconds. My husband is a spine surgeon and he does this to me all the time and it makes it go away almost instantly. I had to take medicine (Topamax) to prevent me from getting them. I don't have to take it anymore because this helps with the pain. I hope this helps you. Also if youget them right on top of your head you can put a bag of ice right on top of your head and lay there and try to go to sleep. This is also a life saver (goes away every time) I feel for you and I hope these methods help you as much as they helped me.
Good luck

Go to a good Chiropractor and he/she may be able to help you correct the problem that is either causing them or contributing to them. Studies have proven that Chiropractic works in most cases of migrane suffering. Check it out!
Good luck and God Bless!
