Well it would be difficult for us to feel that we've been saved by the personal suffering of another if we worshiped a person we envied.

If THAT was all there was to it, not one bloody thing. But Christian's believe that Jesus was far more than just a "skinny, bloody guy" and they believe he alowed himself to be tortured to death to "save" them from death (or eternal "damnation") and give them eternal life. Some of them believe he was God himself, while all hold that he is "the Son of God", even the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. Yes, the Crucifixion IS a very yucky idea, and I do not care to dwell on it either, but Christianity is a faith that has made many people happy and helped them find a reason to live and a way to help them live it better. Is the Christian God "happy"? The Bible says he is "angry with the wicked every day". But he does love his children, and he is happy with them.

I have to agree with you on this. If you look only at his death it really wouldn't make sense. Now I'm not christian but i was raised in church so i can explain why so many Christians worship Jesus and wear on there necklaces something as gruesome as a cross (i mean who would wear a electric chair amulet right that's same idea). Jesus is worshiped as the son of god. he came to earth to save gods children from sin. The only way he could do that is by living a sinless life and then sacrificing himself so that he would die. This gave him the chance to rise again and rule in heaven and on earth without the people having to go to priests to talk to god. before his death Satan ruled the world, thus people relied on priests to enter the sacred space and make there requests and sacrifices. The symbolic end to this was the temple curtains tearing in half at Jesus' death.

If u see or know people worshipping or paying homeage to the kind u mentioned...that people are not worhsipping God...THEY ARE NOT WORSHIPPING THE TRUE GOD BUT IDOL...

Lev 19:4. "'Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.
NIV

Lev 26:1
26:1 "'Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God.
NIV

Isa 45:20 Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood,
who pray to gods that cannot save.
NIV

Jer 10:3-5
For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so it will not totter.
5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch,
their idols cannot speak;
they must be carried
because they cannot walk.
Do not fear them;
they can do no harm
nor can they do any good."
NIV

Ps 115:4-8
4 But their idols are silver and gold,
made by the hands of men.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but they cannot see;
6 they have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but they cannot smell;
7 they have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but they cannot walk;
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
NIV

Hab 2:18-20
18 "Of what value is an idol, since a man has carved it?
Or an image that teaches lies?
For he who makes it trusts in his own creation;
he makes idols that cannot speak.
19 Woe to him who says to wood, 'Come to life!'
Or to lifeless stone, 'Wake up!'
Can it give guidance?
It is covered with gold and silver;
there is no breath in it.
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple;
let all the earth be silent before him."
NIV

that is a man i would be more than happy to follow into battle. That is a leader in every way a leader should be, he loves every soldier like each was his own child. That is a king who sacrificed himself for the creations he loves, that skinny man is a great warrior. And it would be an honor to die for him, my commander, my god, and my father the lord of heaven and earth Jesus Christ. And one day whether you want to or not you WILL bow your knees to him and shudder in FEAR.

I know what you mean. If you think about it objectively, and to one such as I that am not religious. That image is kind of sick, and disturbing. I think it's apart of the fear factor in Christianity that they like to use on people so much. Most Christians can not see how sick that image looks. In the end in my mind, if Jesus existed, he did not die for our sins, he died because of them. The image of him tortured and nailed to the cross is a sick look at the beast of human nature, look at what we are capable of doing to our fellow human beings.

If you'ere talking aboout Jesus, then you have it totally wrong and that was only part of the whole thing. The whole religion is following his teachings and stuff.

You also said that in a very crude and mean way.
